About the role
Roblox is on the lookout for a dynamic and strategic business leader to take charge as the General Manager for South East Asia. This key position is vital for overseeing operations in a region that is critical for growth, compliance, and ecosystem development. The GM will serve as the primary representative for Roblox in South East Asia, engaging with external stakeholders such as government entities, media, and partners, while also coordinating efforts internally across various departments like product, policy, and operations.

What you'll do
- Develop and implement ambitious regional objectives and a comprehensive strategy, ensuring effective execution with local teams and partners.
- Act as the voice of South East Asia within Roblox, ensuring that the unique needs and challenges of the region are reflected in global priorities.
- Function as the main liaison between the local office and headquarters, facilitating communication on regulatory, product, safety, and operational matters.
- Establish the local office as a proactive entity that can identify and respond to regulatory, cultural, and market trends.
- Ensure seamless operations across all South East Asian markets, addressing any challenges that may arise.
- Proactively identify and manage emerging public policy requirements, collaborating with teams in Policy, Trust & Safety, Legal, and Product to drive compliance initiatives tailored to the region.
- Forge and maintain strategic relationships with regulatory bodies, ratings agencies, and media outlets to mitigate risks and ensure business continuity.
- Serve as a regional spokesperson on matters of safety and integrity, enhancing public trust and the resilience of the brand.
- Define and implement a regional growth strategy aimed at maximizing user engagement, revenue, and the overall health of the local creator ecosystem.
- Cultivate a strong local presence to boost brand recognition and support creators, focusing on key genre verticals.
- Build and strengthen partnerships with strategic stakeholders across the region to enhance collaboration and growth opportunities.
- Collaborate with headquarters on product and core functions to develop integrated roadmaps that address both growth and compliance needs.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing complex operations across multiple countries within a significant international region.
- Strong expertise in navigating a global, matrixed organizational structure, providing leadership across various functions.
- Demonstrated success in operating within highly regulated or politically sensitive environments.
- Experience in the gaming industry or user-generated content platforms is a significant advantage.
- A background in technology or technical fluency is preferred to effectively engage with product teams.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to act as a spokesperson and establish credibility with governments and partners.
- Fluency in English is essential, with proficiency in additional languages such as Bahasa being highly desirable to manage diverse cultural and regulatory landscapes.

Practical notes
This position is based in Singapore, with a requirement for in-person attendance at the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with optional presence on Mondays and Fridays. The selected candidate should be prepared for frequent travel to the headquarters in San Mateo, California, especially during the initial six months to ensure alignment and establish foundational operations.
