About the role
You will lead engineering pods within the Safety Platform organization, owning the technical vision and execution for foundational systems that power every safety workflow at Roblox. This role involves owning the core safety platform end-to-end, from shared infrastructure and APIs that enable trust and safety capabilities across the company to the tooling ecosystem that empowers internal operators to investigate, intervene, and resolve issues at scale. You will also own the Safety agentic platform - AI-powered systems that automate and augment safety workflows across detection, enforcement, and review pipelines. As the platform layer beneath every safety surface, your work will define how quickly and reliably Roblox can respond to emerging threats. This role requires a leader with a strong platform mindset who can balance technical rigor with broad organizational impact, working across User Safety, Trust & Safety Policy, Data Science, and Machine Learning to deliver scalable, extensible, and high-availability systems for one of the world's largest platforms.

- Contribute to strategy by participating in the development of the overall capture and sharing strategy, identifying opportunities for innovation and expansion.
- Champion continuous improvement by instilling a culture of ongoing learning, encouraging experimentation, knowledge dissemination, and the adoption of new technologies.
- Own the core safety platform end-to-end, including shared infrastructure and APIs that enable trust and safety capabilities across the company.
- Build and maintain the tooling ecosystem that empowers internal operators to investigate, intervene, and resolve issues at scale efficiently and effectively.
- Define and evolve the safety agentic platform - AI-powered systems that automate and augment safety workflows across detection, enforcement, and review pipelines.
- Establish architectural patterns and governance models that ensure scalability, reliability, and security for platform services used by multiple safety-critical teams.
- Partner with data science and machine learning teams to align platform capabilities with evolving detection and risk modeling strategies.
- Collaborate with Trust & Safety Policy and User Safety organizations to ensure platform solutions meet operational, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
- Drive execution against demanding timelines while balancing technical rigor, platform thinking, and broad organizational impact.
Requirements
- Demonstrate experience as a leader of successful engineering teams responsible for building new product or platform features.
- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to deconstruct complex challenges into manageable components.
- Possess the requisite project management skills to drive projects to successful completion efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain a long-term strategic perspective while balancing the practical ability to implement timely, short-term solutions.
- Have experience developing consumer-facing applications supported by a strong platform-thinking mindset.
- Show ability to work across User Safety, Trust & Safety Policy, Data Science, and Machine Learning organizations.
- Communicate clearly and persuasively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Embrace Roblox's engineering principles and demonstrate commitment to building scalable, secure, and high-availability systems.
Nice to have
- Experience with AI safety platforms, agentic systems, or safety automation at scale.
- Background in trust and safety operations, policy enforcement, or content moderation platforms.
- Familiarity with large-scale consumer platforms operating at global scale.
- Experience collaborating with data science and machine learning teams on risk modeling and detection systems.
Practical notes
This role is based in San Mateo, California, and requires regular in-office presence. Travel may be required within the role responsibilities. Employment eligibility to work in the United States is required.
