About the role

Roblox is seeking a strategic and experienced professional to join our team as the Director of Public Policy for the UAE and the broader Middle East region. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for shaping and guiding our public policy initiatives, ensuring that Roblox's interests are effectively represented in discussions with government entities and regulatory bodies. You will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to advocate for policies that foster a safe and innovative environment for our users while promoting the growth of the Roblox platform in the region.

What you'll do

• Develop and implement comprehensive public policy strategies that align with Roblox's mission and business objectives in the UAE and Middle East.
• Engage with government officials, regulatory agencies, and industry stakeholders to advocate for policies that support the growth of the digital economy and the gaming industry.
• Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments that could impact Roblox and its users, providing timely insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, communications, and product development, to ensure alignment on public policy initiatives and messaging.
• Represent Roblox at industry conferences, public forums, and stakeholder meetings, effectively communicating the company's position on key issues.
• Build and maintain relationships with key influencers, industry associations, and advocacy groups to promote Roblox's interests and enhance its reputation in the region.
• Lead efforts to educate policymakers and the public about the benefits of Roblox's platform, including its commitment to safety, creativity, and community engagement.
• Develop and manage a team of public policy professionals, providing mentorship and guidance to foster their growth and effectiveness.
• Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external audiences, articulating the implications of policy changes and the company's strategic responses.
• Stay abreast of global trends in public policy and technology, identifying opportunities for Roblox to lead in shaping the future of the gaming industry.
• Coordinate with international public policy teams to ensure a cohesive approach to global policy challenges and opportunities.
• Foster a culture of transparency and collaboration within the organization, ensuring that public policy considerations are integrated into business decision-making processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in public policy, political science, law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in public policy, government relations, or a similar role, with a focus on the technology or gaming sectors.
• Proven track record of successfully advocating for policy initiatives at the regional or national level.
• Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape in the UAE and Middle East, particularly as it relates to digital platforms and online safety.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, industry peers, and community organizations.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess the impact of policy changes on business operations and user experience.
• Experience managing teams and leading cross-functional projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Proficiency in Arabic or other regional languages is a plus.
