What you'll do

• Serve as the primary data partner for engineering and product teams, guiding the development of machine learning products by translating complex technical concepts into understandable metrics.
• Design and implement advanced machine learning models that analyze unstructured data such as text, images, and videos to enhance product performance and user engagement.
• Manage the entire data workflow, from initial concept through data collection and pipeline development to modeling, ensuring that outputs effectively inform strategic decisions.
• Create and execute complex experimental designs to measure the impact of key service updates and AI features on the overall Roblox ecosystem.

Requirements

• A strong academic foundation with a BS, MSc, or PhD in fields such as Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related quantitative discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in machine learning, particularly with unstructured data types (text, images, videos), and the ability to convert these models into practical data products.
• Proven ability to influence senior leadership through clear communication and well-structured narratives regarding complex technical subjects.
• Experience working in environments characterized by ambiguity and a lack of standard data formats, showcasing adaptability and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with natural language processing (NLP), particularly in evaluating translation quality and managing feedback loops.
• In-depth knowledge of statistical methods, A/B testing, and causal inference in complex settings, ensuring robust data analysis.
• Proficiency in understanding complex system architectures, data flows, and high-throughput data schemas.

• The starting salary for this role ranges from $221,380 to $263,670 USD, with actual compensation depending on various factors such as experience, education, and market demand.
• The work schedule includes on-site presence at the San Mateo office Tuesday through Thursday, with optional attendance on Mondays and Fridays.
