About the role
The Engineering Manager, Product Engineering will own the technical strategy and execution for a major segment of our product organization. You will define the architecture and operational practices that allow our platform to scale reliably for enterprise customers. This role requires hands-on leadership where you will write code to de-risk the most critical systems while guiding the technical direction of the team. You will partner with product and design to turn ambiguous business requirements into robust, scalable engineering solutions. The manager will establish the standards for quality, delivery, and reliability that define how the product organization operates. You will build and develop engineers, providing mentorship and career growth within a high-performance culture. This position demands comfort with complex, ambiguous problems and the ability to drive change in a fast-moving growth company. You will act as a bridge between business objectives and technical execution to ensure our financial core meets the highest standards.

What you'll do
Define the technical roadmap and architecture for your product area, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of core platform components that power our financial systems.
Translate ambiguous business problems into clear technical specifications and execution plans.
Partner with product managers and designers to scope solutions that balance speed, quality, and reliability.
Mentor engineers and set career development paths to build a high-performing and resilient team.
Establish and enforce standards for code quality, testing, and CI/CD to maintain a robust development lifecycle.
Drive the adoption of best practices in enterprise compliance, including SOC 2, SSO, and audit logging requirements.
Manage cross-team dependencies and coordinate with other engineering managers to ensure coherent system design.
Evaluate and integrate new technologies, such as Kotlin, Java, or TypeScript, to improve our infrastructure.
Lead incident response and post-mortems to drive continuous improvement in system reliability.
Recruit and influence top engineering talent to build diverse and capable teams that can scale with the company.
Collaborate with finance and operations to translate revenue recognition, consolidation, and reporting needs into technical solutions.
Oversee the delivery of high-stakes initiatives from concept through launch, maintaining strict quality standards.
Champion data-driven decision making to optimize the performance and scalability of our AI-native ERP systems.
Ensure the platform supports our customers in sectors like healthcare and staffing, including entities such as Function Health and Mercor.
Requirements
You must have 4+ years managing product engineering teams at high-growth tech companies.
You must bring 6+ years of total engineering experience to the role.
You must demonstrate the ability to manage multiple teams and operate at a high level of organizational complexity.
You must have a history of stepping into challenging situations and driving transformation, not just creating new systems.
You must possess exceptional communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical audiences.
You must carry culture strongly and set high standards that you sustain over time.
You must show comfort with difficult, undefined challenges and a methodical approach to solving them as you go.
You must be willing to work hybrid in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with potential for additional days based on team needs.
Nice to have
Experience scaling and restructuring engineering teams during periods of rapid growth.
Hands-on proficiency with Kotlin, Java, or TypeScript, and a strong understanding of CI/CD practices.
Knowledge of enterprise compliance and readiness, including SOC 2, SSO, and audit logging.
Practical notes
This role is hybrid with required in-office days on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
We support relocation for the right candidate into the New York City or San Francisco areas.
