About the role
We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced software engineer with a strong quantitative background to join our team at Ridgeline. This role is focused on developing high-quality, scalable applications that support our Trade Order Management platform. You will be instrumental in designing and implementing innovative solutions that enhance our platform's capabilities, particularly in the areas of valuations and analytics for portfolio management. Working in a collaborative and dynamic environment, you will contribute to shaping a transformative platform that meets the evolving needs of our clients and internal stakeholders. What you'll do
- Leverage your knowledge of trading processes and financial principles to develop integrated solutions that combine design, strategy, and engineering efforts.
- Engage in the entire software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, system design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to the architecture of the platform, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.
- Expand the platform's asset classes and functionalities by developing new modules and features that address client needs and market changes.
- Utilize AWS backend services to build scalable, reliable, and maintainable applications that support high-volume trading activities.
- Develop automation tools and processes to improve application quality, reduce manual intervention, and enhance scalability for enterprise clients.
- Promote best practices in software design, coding standards, and development methodologies, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Mentor and motivate product engineering teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaboration.
- Address technical challenges creatively, taking ownership of issues from identification through resolution, and communicating progress effectively to stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, traders, quantitative analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Advocate for the adoption of new technologies and tools that can improve platform performance and developer productivity.
- Ensure that the applications developed are secure, reliable, and compliant with relevant standards and regulations.
- Contribute to documentation, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to maintain a high standard of engineering excellence across the team.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to continually enhance platform capabilities and team skills.
- Support the deployment and operational stability of applications in production environments, working with DevOps teams as needed.
Requirements
- Over 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of architecting and designing new technologies and platforms.
- Proficiency in Java or Kotlin (preferred) or similar programming languages, with extensive experience in building enterprise-grade applications.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong understanding of Design Patterns, Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), and SOLID principles.
- Hands-on experience with automated unit testing and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
- Experience working with AWS backend services to develop scalable cloud-based applications.
- Demonstrated ability to independently navigate complex codebases and explore new technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical issues.
- Strong communication skills, capable of articulating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across functions.
- Positive attitude and enthusiasm for tackling challenging problems and delivering impactful solutions.
- Experience with financial applications, trading systems, or portfolio management platforms is a plus.
- Knowledge of buy-side order management systems and financial instrument valuation is advantageous.
- Background in mathematics or quantitative analysis is beneficial but not required.

Compensation and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is between $200,500 and $251,000. Final compensation will depend on individual experience, skills, and qualifications. Ridgeline offers a comprehensive benefits package, including participation in the Company Stock Plan, subject to the relevant Stock Option Agreement.
