About the role

This position exists to translate the biological mission of adding 10 years to healthy human lifespan into precise, regulated laboratory outcomes. You will serve the Vivarium team by executing the end to end workflow of in life studies. Success in this role means studies launch on schedule, data integrity is unquestioned, and animal welfare standards are met without compromise. The environment rewards curiosity, candor, and the ability to shift focus quickly. You will be entrusted with the full ownership of study execution from cage rack setup to final data archiving, ensuring that every variable is controlled and documented. Your daily decisions will directly influence the validity of longevity focused research and the health of the animal colony. You will act as the primary liaison between the science team and operational logistics, aligning procedures with both ethical standards and project timelines.

What you'll do

• Design and implement intake procedures for new study subjects, verifying health status and preparing appropriate housing before any experimental activity begins.
• Establish standardized observation routines, ensuring that every clinical sign is recorded for later quantitative analysis and trend evaluation.
• Apply surgical and non surgical methods with precision, always upholding welfare compliance at every checkpoint of the study timeline.
• Coordinate data capture by organizing records from ongoing trials to support transparent scientific review and operational decisions.
• Manage logistics for product movement, requiring close alignment with manufacturing and regulatory schedules to prevent study delays and maintain chain of custody.
• Build and maintain connections with research partners, harmonizing methods, timelines, and documentation formats to ensure consistency across collaborative projects.
• Implement tracking mechanisms for study materials, monitoring storage conditions and ensuring immediate availability when required for critical procedures.
• Support protocol updates by integrating feedback from science and operations teams without sacrificing execution speed or attention to detail.
• Monitor animal welfare indicators continuously, adjusting environmental parameters and care routines to meet regulatory and ethical benchmarks.
• Perform routine calibrations validations of equipment to ensure data integrity and compliance with quality management systems.
• Lead troubleshooting efforts when anomalies arise, documenting root causes and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Facilitate cross functional communication, translating technical data into clear updates for researchers, managers, and regulatory staff.
• Maintain strict adherence to standard operating procedures, ensuring that every action is traceable and auditable.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying bottlenecks and proposing scalable solutions for vivarium operations.

Requirements

A Bachelor degree is mandatory, with demonstrated research experience in biology or a closely related discipline. You must bring 3 to 5 years of hands on experience in laboratory or vivarium environments. The ability to perform technical procedures on live animals is a core requirement of this position. Meticulous record keeping is non negotiable, as your documentation will be used for audits and scientific validation. Effective collaboration with colleagues across functions is necessary in a fast moving setting. Clear verbal and written communication allows you to share updates and flag concerns promptly. Physical capability to lift, move, and handle equipment safely is required to adapt to changing study demands. Unavailability to work from the Redwood City location during standard business hours will prevent successful performance in this role. You must be fully capable of performing all essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodation, as defined by applicable law. Previous experience in regulated environments is essential to ensure compliance with institutional and federal guidelines.

Nice to have

Experience with approaches that modulate cellular reprogramming or autophagy pathways is valued. Familiarity with the biological aging landscape will help you contextualize study objectives and contribute to more informed decision making during study planning and execution.

Practical notes

You will work from our Redwood City facility on a full-time basis. Your presence is expected during standard business hours to ensure continuity of animal care and procedural timing.
