As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be a key contributor in replacing legacy systems with custom-built solutions tailored to support North America's largest battery recycling operation. Your work will directly impact the efficiency and scalability of the company's manufacturing processes, which are valued at over $3 billion. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining software applications that streamline warehouse management, procurement workflows, and enterprise resource planning (ERP) system integrations. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and product management, to deliver reliable, scalable, and innovative software solutions. Key facts
What you'll do
- Take full ownership of features and projects from initial conception through design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance, ensuring they operate effectively in a production environment.
- Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code primarily using Python and React, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
- Participate actively in code reviews, providing constructive feedback and ensuring code quality across the team.
- Design, develop, and maintain APIs to facilitate seamless integration between various internal systems, including warehouse management, procurement, and ERP platforms.
- Collaborate closely with domain experts, product managers, and stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications and software solutions.
- Contribute to technical design discussions, helping to define architecture, data models, and system workflows that support scalable and reliable operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise in production, performing root cause analysis and implementing fixes to improve system stability and performance.
- Monitor system health and reliability, implementing enhancements to optimize system uptime and responsiveness.
- Work remotely with the team, participating in regular virtual meetings, planning sessions, and code collaboration.
- Occasionally travel to the company's office in Nevada for planning, team engagement, or project kick-offs, with an estimated travel frequency of about one week per quarter.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their applicability to the company's needs and recommending improvements or new approaches.
- Document technical designs, APIs, and processes clearly to ensure knowledge sharing within the team and across departments.
- Support the integration of new hardware or software tools as needed to improve operational workflows.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and high-quality software development practices.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in software engineering or a related field.
- Proven proficiency in Python, with extensive experience developing production-grade applications.
- Strong experience with React for building user interfaces and front-end components.
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on AWS cloud infrastructure.
- Solid understanding of API design principles, RESTful services, and system integration techniques.
- Ability to work independently in a remote-first environment, making pragmatic technical decisions aligned with business goals.
- Excellent written communication skills for documenting technical specifications, API documentation, and project updates.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex issues in production environments and implement effective solutions.
- Willingness to travel to Nevada approximately once per quarter for about one week, supporting team collaboration and project planning.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle, version control systems, and agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with enterprise software systems, supply chain management, or manufacturing processes is a plus.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements and prioritize tasks effectively.

- Background in manufacturing, logistics, or recycling industries, providing domain-specific insights.

- Prior experience working in distributed or remote engineering teams, demonstrating strong collaboration skills.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
- Understanding of data analytics and visualization tools relevant to manufacturing or supply chain data.

Practical notes
In accordance with California pay transparency laws, the salary range for this position is $180,000 to $237,500 USD. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, and skills. This is a full-time position with benefits, and the company provides a comprehensive package to support employee well-being. The role involves working on-site in McCarran, NV, or San Francisco, California, and occasional travel to Nevada for about one week per quarter.
