About the role
Redwood Materials is on the lookout for a Business Applications Engineer to lead the management of Oracle Transportation Management (OTM). This role is crucial in facilitating seamless connections between supplier and customer integrations for both incoming materials and outgoing products. The successful candidate will work closely with various operational teams, including logistics, warehouse management, finance, and business development, to ensure that the OTM environment aligns with and supports the company's operational objectives.

What you'll do
- Serve as the primary administrator for Oracle Transportation Management, managing its setup and ongoing administration, which encompasses order and shipment management, planning, freight settlement, and associated modules.
- Design, implement, and maintain automation processes and integrations between OTM and the internal Warehouse Management System (WMS), as well as the new ERP system based on Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Oversee the onboarding process for carriers, ensuring accurate freight rates are maintained, and troubleshoot any issues that arise in both inbound and outbound transportation.
- Acquire in-depth knowledge of the in-house WMS and work collaboratively with the development team, while also liaising with the external provider of the legacy Oracle WMS.
- Collaborate closely with warehouse operations, finance, and business development teams to translate their operational needs into effective system configurations and assist with planning and reporting tasks.
- Manage quarterly updates to the OTM cloud platform, which includes regression testing, documentation maintenance, and providing user support and training to staff.
- Analyze system performance and identify areas for improvement, ensuring that OTM continues to meet the evolving needs of the business.
- Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for users to enhance their understanding and effective use of the OTM system.
- Monitor industry trends and best practices in transportation management to recommend enhancements to the OTM system.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards in transportation and logistics operations.
- Facilitate communication between technical teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain/Logistics, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in configuring and supporting Oracle Transportation Management, with a strong understanding of agents, automation, and the OTM data model; proficiency in SQL and XML/XSL as they pertain to OTM is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in integrating transportation systems with ERP, WMS, and carrier or visibility partners utilizing the OTM Integration Framework, REST/SOAP web services, or Oracle Integration Cloud.
- A comprehensive understanding of logistics and transportation operations, including key areas such as rating, carrier management, freight settlement, and planning for both inbound and outbound logistics.
- A willingness to learn and adapt to a custom in-house WMS, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud-based applications and services, particularly in a logistics or transportation context.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies, which can enhance project execution and team collaboration.
- Previous involvement in system upgrades or migrations, particularly in a transportation management environment.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Oracle Transportation Management, with a strong grasp of its functionalities and capabilities.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 and its integration with transportation management systems.
- Familiarity with SQL, XML, and various integration frameworks that facilitate data exchange between systems.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

- This position does not offer relocation assistance, so candidates should be local or willing to commute to McCarran, NV.
