About the role
The Senior Medical Writer owns the development of high-impact scientific content across multiple channels and client brands at Real Chemistry. They analyze and interpret complex scientific data to create compelling, evidence-based clinical communications and commercial messages. This role collaborates closely with the Medical Director and cross-functional partners to shape medical storytelling strategies. The Senior Medical Writer mentors junior writers and ensures all deliverables meet the highest standards of scientific accuracy and regulatory compliance. They translate intricate data into clear narratives that resonate with healthcare professionals. The role requires balancing creativity with strict adherence to medical and legal guidelines.

What you'll do
Develop core deliverables such as PowerPoint slides, manuscripts, video scripts, and executive summaries, along with ancillary materials like participant handouts and moderator guides for medical communication projects, including promotional presentations, advisory board meetings, product theaters, educational videos, and digital solutions.
Perform and analyze literature searches and scientific research regarding clinical data and key scientific information to develop relevant, up-to-date, and accurate medical communication content that meets client needs.
Collaborate with the Medical Director, in partnership with Creative and Client Services, on medical storytelling by leveraging client insights, landscape intelligence, and evidence-based medical literature to provide strategic recommendations.
Partner with Presentation and Graphic Designers on various illustrations, animations, and creative applications of medical and scientific information to enhance clarity and engagement.
As assigned, develop relationships and collaborate closely with clients and key opinion leaders to create scientific content and execute medical communication strategies that effectively convey complex scientific information to medical professionals.
Conduct rigorous quality checks on all content-related materials, including annotated deliverables, to ensure scientific integrity and accuracy, and support Veeva submissions of all medical communication deliverables for client medical, legal, and regulatory reviews by highlighting all relevant references and creating detailed reference notes.
Support project management within the cross-functional team by communicating effectively with Account and Project Managers and actively participating in all internal and client meetings to ensure alignment and timely progress.
Train and mentor more junior medical writers under the guidance of the Medical Director to elevate team capabilities and maintain consistent quality standards.
Maintain full compliance with legal, regulatory, and corporate requirements as well as all applicable US laws and regulations in all deliverables and processes.
Perform any other duties as reasonably assigned; duties and responsibilities may be removed, modified, or added by leadership at any time as business or operational needs evolve.
Requirements
Advanced degree (eg, MD, PhD, PharmD, MPH, MS) in a healthcare-related field required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in medical education, scientific research, or clinical practice/insights preferred, or 2-3 years of experience in medical education in a pharmaceutical company or medical communications agency required, with experience in promotional/medical communication to healthcare professionals preferred.
Experience with medical, legal, and regulatory reviews preferred.
Expert verbal and written communication skills in the field of medical science.
Intermediate ability to analyze the scientific relevance, validity, and credibility of the published medical literature.
Intermediate level of conceptual and functional understanding of modern digital marketing practices and the applications of artificial intelligence technology.
Practical notes
Work Schedule/Hours: This position requires occasional nonstandard work hours in accordance with project needs, deadlines, deliverables, and urgent client requests.
Business Travel: This position requires moderate overnight/weekend travel (up to 20%) based upon client geography.
This position has no direct reports and does not perform supervisory tasks.
Pay Range
$90,000.00-100,000.00
This is the pay range the Company believes it will pay for this position at the time of this posting. Consistent with applicable law, compensation will be determined based on job-related, non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to work experience, skills, certifications, and geographical location. The Company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any time.
