About the role
The Senior Copywriter at Real Chemistry is entrusted with transforming complex healthcare concepts into compelling narratives that resonate across diverse audiences and platforms. This role owns the end-to-end creative development process, from initial strategic ideation to polished, on-brand execution that meets client objectives. The position requires close collaboration with art directors, account teams, and producers to ensure visual and verbal storytelling are perfectly synchronized. The Senior Copywriter acts as a strategic partner within the creative process, anticipating client needs and delivering solutions that exceed expectations. Success in this role is measured by the ability to craft impactful messages that drive engagement and support client business goals. The role demands adaptability in a fast-evolving environment where priorities shift and innovation is constant.

What you'll do
- Concept and develop innovative advertising and promotional copy across multiple media channels and target audiences, ensuring strategic alignment with campaign objectives.
- Participate actively in strategic planning, tactical brainstorms, and collaborative sessions with clients and internal teams to shape effective, data-informed campaigns.
- Present creative concepts to stakeholders, incorporating feedback iteratively to refine ideas and achieve optimal results within project constraints.
- Oversee the copy editing and refinement process, maintaining strict standards for clarity, accurate grammar, precise punctuation, and consistent brand voice.
- Partner closely with Art Directors, Producers, Account teams, and Editorial professionals to ensure creative work is on strategy, on message, and delivered on schedule.
- Translate complex scientific and medical information into accessible, engaging narratives that resonate with healthcare professionals and target audiences.
- Conduct research to gather relevant insights, trends, and competitive landscapes that inform creative direction and storytelling approaches.
- Mentor junior copywriters when appropriate, sharing expertise and fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence within the creative department.
- Ensure all deliverables adhere to regulatory guidelines and compliance requirements specific to healthcare and pharmaceutical advertising.
- Contribute to the development of long-term creative strategies that support client growth and market positioning over time.
Requirements
- Bring 3+ years of proven healthcare advertising experience to the role, demonstrating a strong track record in pharmaceutical or biotech environments.
- Cultivate a deep knowledge, background, and genuine interest in advertising principles and the medical or pharmaceutical sciences.
- Thrive within team settings, showing an innate ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners and stakeholders.
- Exhibit sharp problem-solving abilities, approaching creative challenges with logic, empathy, and strategic foresight.
- Possess Healthcare or Pharma Experience as a fundamental requirement for this position.
- Maintain a comprehensive creative portfolio that highlights strong conceptual thinking and the ability to produce high-quality work within science-heavy pharmaceutical categories.
- Demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
- Show resilience and adaptability, embracing change and adjusting scope, responsibilities, and focus as the agency and clients evolve.

Practical notes
- This is a hybrid role, based in any of our US offices - including New York City, Boston, Chicago, Carmel, Lambertville, or San Francisco - or remotely within the US, depending on team and business needs.
- For employees located within a one-hour commute of a Real Chemistry office, we require in-person attendance two days per week, either from a Real Chemistry office or when working onsite with clients.
- Employees in regions without a nearby office may work remotely and come together throughout the year for collaboration, culture-building, learning, and team connection opportunities.
