Bamboohr is seeking a dedicated Intellectual Property Counsel to join our team in Ljubljana, Carniola. What you'll do

• Provide expert legal advice on a range of intellectual property issues, including patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
• Draft, review, and negotiate various agreements related to intellectual property, such as licensing agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and collaboration contracts.
• Conduct thorough assessments of intellectual property portfolios to identify potential risks and opportunities for clients.
• Collaborate with internal teams, including R&D and marketing, to ensure that intellectual property considerations are integrated into product development and business strategies.
• Represent the company in intellectual property disputes, including litigation and alternative dispute resolution, when necessary.
• Stay updated on changes in intellectual property laws and regulations, both locally and internationally, to ensure compliance and provide proactive guidance.
• Develop and deliver training sessions for internal stakeholders on intellectual property best practices and compliance.
• Assist in the preparation and filing of patent and trademark applications, working closely with external counsel as needed.
• Monitor and analyze competitors' intellectual property activities to inform strategic decision-making.
• Support the commercialization of intellectual property assets by advising on market entry strategies and potential licensing opportunities.
• Engage with external legal counsel and other advisors to ensure effective management of intellectual property matters.
• Contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to intellectual property management within the organization.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in intellectual property law, preferably within a corporate or law firm setting.
• Strong understanding of patent, trademark, and copyright laws, as well as relevant international treaties and agreements.
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating intellectual property agreements.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex legal issues and provide clear, actionable advice.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages is a plus.

Nice to have

• Experience in a technology-driven industry, such as software, biotechnology, or pharmaceuticals.
• Familiarity with intellectual property management software and tools.
• Previous experience in managing intellectual property litigation or disputes.
• Membership in a relevant professional organization, such as the International Trademark Association (INTA) or the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
• An advanced degree in a technical field (e.g., engineering, computer science, life sciences) is highly desirable.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in legal research tools and databases, such as LexisNexis or Westlaw.
• Familiarity with intellectual property management systems and software.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for document preparation and presentations.
• Ability to utilize project management tools to track and manage multiple intellectual property projects simultaneously.
