What you'll do
- Lead a team of engineers and scientists in the design and development of optical processes for quantum computing applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate optical systems with other components of quantum devices.
- Develop and implement testing protocols to evaluate the performance of optical systems, ensuring they meet stringent quality and efficiency standards.
- Analyze data from optical experiments to identify areas for improvement and innovation in optical process design.
- Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring that all milestones are met within budget constraints.
- Mentor and train team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the engineering team.
- Stay abreast of advancements in optical engineering and quantum technologies, applying this knowledge to enhance our processes.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports for internal stakeholders and external partners, communicating complex concepts clearly and effectively.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions to align optical engineering initiatives with the broader goals of the organization.
- Drive initiatives to improve manufacturing processes related to optical components, enhancing yield and reducing costs.
- Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components necessary for optical system development.
- Engage in troubleshooting and problem-solving activities to address any challenges that arise during the development and production phases.
Requirements
- A Master's degree or Ph.D. in Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in optical engineering or a similar role, preferably within the semiconductor or quantum technology sectors.
- Proven track record of managing engineering teams and leading complex projects from inception to completion.
- Strong understanding of optical design software and simulation tools.
- Experience with experimental optics, including the use of lasers, lenses, and other optical components.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, capable of conveying technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.
- Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
