What you'll do

• Design, develop, and implement firmware for quantum computing hardware, ensuring it meets performance and reliability standards.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and software developers, to define firmware requirements and specifications.
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of firmware to identify and resolve issues before deployment.
• Optimize firmware performance by analyzing system performance metrics and implementing improvements.
• Document firmware design processes, specifications, and testing procedures to maintain clear communication within the team.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on firmware development best practices.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in firmware development and quantum computing technologies to continuously enhance your skills and knowledge.
• Troubleshoot and debug firmware issues in collaboration with hardware teams to ensure seamless integration.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in firmware development, preferably within the hardware or quantum computing industry.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or Python, with a strong understanding of embedded systems.
• Experience with real-time operating systems and low-level hardware interfacing.
• Familiarity with debugging tools and methodologies for firmware development.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex technical information effectively.

Nice to have

• Experience in quantum computing or related fields, providing insight into the unique challenges of firmware development in this area.
• Familiarity with FPGA programming and development tools.
