What you'll do
- Design, develop, and implement firmware for quantum computing hardware, ensuring it meets performance and reliability standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers and software developers, to define firmware requirements and specifications.
- Conduct thorough testing and validation of firmware to identify and resolve issues before deployment.
- Optimize firmware performance by analyzing system performance metrics and implementing improvements.
- Document firmware design processes, specifications, and testing procedures to maintain clear communication within the team.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide guidance on firmware development best practices.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in firmware development and quantum computing technologies to continuously enhance your skills and knowledge.
- Troubleshoot and debug firmware issues in collaboration with hardware teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Contribute to the development of tools and processes that improve firmware development efficiency and quality.

- Work with external partners and vendors to integrate third-party components into our firmware solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in firmware development, preferably within the hardware or quantum computing industry.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or Python, with a strong understanding of embedded systems.
- Experience with real-time operating systems and low-level hardware interfacing.
- Familiarity with debugging tools and methodologies for firmware development.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex technical information effectively.
Nice to have
- Experience in quantum computing or related fields, providing insight into the unique challenges of firmware development in this area.
- Familiarity with FPGA programming and development tools.
- Knowledge of hardware design principles and experience working closely with hardware teams.
