Key facts
What you'll do
- Design and develop digital circuits and systems that are integral to our quantum computing architecture, ensuring they meet stringent performance and reliability standards.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and physicists to translate complex quantum algorithms into efficient digital implementations.
- Conduct thorough simulations and analyses of digital designs to validate functionality and performance prior to physical implementation.
- Utilize state-of-the-art design tools and methodologies to optimize digital designs for power, area, and speed.
- Lead design reviews, providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers while fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
- Develop and maintain documentation for design specifications, test plans, and verification processes to ensure traceability and compliance.
- Participate in the integration of digital systems with other components of the quantum computing stack, including analog and RF systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during the design, testing, and integration phases, ensuring timely delivery of projects.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in digital design and quantum computing to continuously improve our design processes.
- Contribute to the development of best practices and standards for digital design within the organization, enhancing overall efficiency and quality.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field; a Master's or Ph.D. is preferred.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in digital design, with a strong focus on complex systems and high-speed digital circuits.
- Proficiency in hardware description languages such as VHDL or Verilog, along with experience in simulation tools like ModelSim or Cadence.
- Solid understanding of digital design principles, including timing analysis, signal integrity, and power management.
- Experience with FPGA design and implementation, particularly in the context of high-performance computing applications.
- Familiarity with ASIC design flow and methodologies, including synthesis, place and route, and verification.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in quantum computing or related fields, providing insight into the unique challenges and requirements of this technology.
- Knowledge of software development practices, including proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C++.
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques and their applications in digital design and optimization.
- Experience working in an agile development environment, promoting collaboration and rapid iteration.

- Expertise in digital design software and tools, including Xilinx Vivado, Altera Quartus, and Synopsys Design Compiler.
- Proficient in simulation and verification tools such as UVM and SystemVerilog.
- Strong understanding of signal integrity analysis tools and techniques, ensuring high-quality signal performance.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git, enabling efficient collaboration and code management.
- Competence in using project management tools to track progress and manage tasks effectively.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies and methodologies quickly, contributing to continuous improvement in design processes.
