Requirements

• Bring three to five years of fullstack experience, writing both interface and server code in production settings.
• Communicate clearly in English, structuring complex ideas for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Care about readable code, clean abstractions, and straightforward debugging paths that teammates can follow.
• Understand data models, API contracts, and the tradeoffs involved in moving features from prototype to stable service.

This role is situated within the Product Now organization as a member of technical staff focused on the intersection of product strategy and execution. You will be expected to operate with a high degree of independence, taking ownership of complex problems that span both user experience and system architecture. The work requires fluency across multiple layers of the technology stack, from the user interface down to data storage and asynchronous communication pipelines. You will not only build features but also ensure that those features remain understandable and maintainable long after your initial implementation. Success in this position will be measured by your ability to reduce ambiguity for others while delivering robust, scalable solutions. You will frequently be the person who translates raw product intent into precise technical requirements and then validates that those requirements are met in production. The role demands comfort with ambiguity and a willingness to iterate based on real-world feedback rather than predefined plans. You will be expected to question assumptions, clarify constraints early, and propose solutions that balance user needs with technical feasibility. Because the role sits at the core of the product development process, your contributions will be visible to cross-functional partners and executives alike.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will involve a significant amount of discovery and definition before any code is written. You will spend time observing how teams currently solve problems, identifying friction points, and documenting workflows that are otherwise handled through informal processes or tribal knowledge. From these observations, you will craft product requirements that are clear enough for engineers to implement without constant clarification. You will then move into solution design, where you balance user needs, system constraints, and business priorities. This phase often involves creating prototypes, wireframes, and data flow diagrams that help stakeholders align on the intended behavior. Once design is sufficiently validated, you will move into implementation, writing both frontend and backend code to bring the feature to life. Throughout this process, you will collaborate closely with engineers to ensure that your designs are not only functional but also technically sound and scalable. After launch, you will monitor performance indicators, gather qualitative feedback, and iterate on the experience based on what you learn.

Because this role involves owning the full lifecycle of a feature, communication is a core competency. You will regularly synthesize complex information into concise narratives that help diverse stakeholders understand tradeoffs and make informed decisions. You will lead design discussions, asking probing questions that uncover underlying needs and constraints. You will translate those needs into concrete product requirements that engineering can estimate and plan against. You will also be responsible for maintaining the artifacts that help teams understand how features work, including interaction models, data definitions, and usage examples. Documentation in this role is not an afterthought but a primary mechanism for reducing repeated questions and ensuring consistency. You will be expected to keep these artifacts current as features evolve and as new team members join the product.

The technical scope of this role assumes familiarity with modern web development practices and distributed systems concepts. You will work with a stack that includes TypeScript for frontend logic, React for building user interfaces, Node for server-side logic, Postgres for structured data storage, and Kafka for asynchronous event processing. Your code will run in environments that demand reliability, so you will need to write tests, monitor logs, and reason about system behavior under load. You will be comfortable reading production logs and using them to inform product decisions. You will also be able to evaluate the performance of your features and propose improvements based on observed bottlenecks. Because the systems you help build are intended to serve many teams over time, you will need to design interfaces that are explicit and resistant to accidental change.

The successful candidate will have a track record of delivering production software in collaborative settings. You should be able to demonstrate that your work has been used by real teams in real workflows, not just in theory. You will bring several years of experience shipping fullstack features, which means you understand the difference between an idea that sounds good in a meeting and one that holds up under daily use. You will also be someone who cares deeply about the quality of your work, not just the speed of delivery. Clean code, thoughtful abstractions, and debuggable systems will matter to you because you work alongside other engineers who rely on your contributions. You will be comfortable explaining your technical decisions without jargon, and you will listen carefully when others challenge your assumptions.

This role is not for someone who prefers to work in isolation or who expects a rigid, predefined process to follow every step of the way. You will be expected to engage directly with customers and internal partners, using those interactions to refine your understanding of the problem space. You will need to balance competing priorities, such as speed of delivery versus long-term maintainability, and make decisions that serve the broader product goals. You will also need to be comfortable working in a hybrid environment, spending some days in the Palo Alto office and other days working remotely.
