About the role

This role centers on advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights through expert legal support and strategic advocacy. The hire will own the research, drafting, and analysis of materials that shape policy positions and legal arguments. You will drive the development of high-impact resources that translate complex legal issues into clear, actionable guidance for advocates and partners. You will collaborate closely with public policy and litigation teams to ensure alignment between legal strategy and advocacy objectives. Key facts

What you'll do

Conduct in-depth legal research and synthesize relevant case law, statutes, regulations, and policy documents to inform issue briefs and advocacy materials.

Draft legislation, regulatory comments, court filings, and organizational policy language that advance sexual and reproductive health and rights at the state and federal levels.

Analyze proposed laws and administrative actions to assess their impact on access to care, privacy, and patient protections.

Coordinate with program, advocacy, and communications staff to align legal strategy with public education and organizing efforts.

Support the development of training tools and resources that help staff and partners understand and apply legal information in their work.

Monitor legislative and regulatory developments in multiple jurisdictions, providing timely updates and strategic recommendations to leadership.

Prepare summaries and memos that translate complex legal decisions into clear guidance for non-legal audiences.

Assist in the coordination of external counsel and expert networks on litigation and policy initiatives as needed.

Review and provide comments on amicus briefs, coalition materials, and public statements to ensure legal accuracy and consistency.

Contribute to the maintenance of legal databases and document management systems to ensure efficient access to key resources.

Support the identification and assessment of potential litigation opportunities and the coordination of impact litigation strategies.

Collaborate with affiliate legal teams to share best practices and promote alignment across Planned Parenthood organizations.

Help organize and facilitate legal webinars, workshops, and briefings for staff, advocates, and community partners.

Track and evaluate the outcomes of policy and legal work to inform future planning and improve organizational impact.

Requirements

Be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship now or at any time during this role.

Be a U.S. citizen or national or a permanent resident, temporary resident, refugee, asylum seeker, or visitor of the United States.

Be willing and able to obtain and maintain security clearance as required by the position.

Have the right to work in the United States in the present or future without requiring sponsorship for any work authorization at any time during this role.

Nice to have

Experience with legislative drafting, regulatory analysis, or impact litigation.

Knowledge of sexual and reproductive health policy and advocacy.

Familiarity with issues affecting marginalized communities and lived experience of health care access barriers.

Practical notes

This is a full-time role covered by a union agreement.
