About the role
Pointclickcare is actively searching for a senior engineer to help build and maintain our healthcare technology platform. In this capacity, you will own the design and delivery of scalable software solutions that underpin the daily operations of over 30,000 provider organizations. You will integrate advanced Artificial Intelligence tools directly into the development lifecycle to enhance how our product is built and maintained. The role requires deep collaboration with both technical and clinical stakeholders to ensure technology translates into better care outcomes. You will be responsible for translating complex business requirements into robust, production-ready technical architectures. This position is pivotal in driving the modernization of our core platform through cloud-native practices and automation. You will act as a technical leader, mentoring peers and junior engineers on best practices in software quality and delivery. Ultimately, your work will ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the critical infrastructure used by caregivers every day.

What you'll do
- Manage the full software development lifecycle from requirements gathering through deployment and maintenance.
- Write clean, efficient code and automate manual, repetitive processes using custom scripting.
- Analyze, debug, and monitor system performance to identify bottlenecks and ensure high availability.
- Perform test-driven development and conduct thorough peer code reviews to uphold engineering standards.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to enhance product functionality and user experience.
- Apply Generative AI models and spec-driven development methodologies to execute daily development tasks.
- Build and maintain the AI platform infrastructure, focusing on container security, orchestration, and Kubernetes management.
- Implement comprehensive observability frameworks to enable real-time performance monitoring and proactive issue resolution.
- Design and implement integrations with cloud-native streaming platforms to support real-time data movement.
- Optimize database interactions and ensure data integrity across complex relational database schemas.
- Develop and maintain robust RESTful APIs using Spring Boot to facilitate seamless communication between services.
- Utilize CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment, ensuring rapid and reliable software releases.
- Leverage automated testing frameworks to build resilient test suites that prevent regressions and ensure quality.
- Work with vector databases and prompt stores to build and maintain the infrastructure for AI-driven applications.
- Ensure all solutions comply with healthcare data standards and security best practices inherent to the industry.
Requirements
- Hold a BSc or BA degree in Computer Science or a closely related technical field.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Java or other functional and object-oriented programming languages.
- Bring experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services or equivalent enterprise cloud platforms.
- Possess knowledge of cloud-native streaming technologies such as Azure Event Hub, Service Bus, AWS Kinesis, or Google Pub/Sub.
- Show expertise in relational database systems, specifically Microsoft SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
- Have experience with Spring Boot frameworks and the development of RESTful APIs.
- Familiarize yourself with CI/CD tools including GitHub Actions and Jenkins for automation pipelines.
- Have experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, Jest, or Playwright.
- Show proficiency with Git version control and system monitoring tools like Azure Log Analytics, Grafana, or DataDog.
- Hands-on experience with AI infrastructure components, including vector databases, prompt management stores, and AI-integrated IDEs.
- Demonstrate expertise in distributed tracing and observability standards such as OpenTelemetry or NLPFlow.
- Must utilize Generative AI code assistant tools like GitHub Copilot in the development workflow.
- Commit to adhering to the security and compliance policies required for handling sensitive healthcare information.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment with a commitment to residency within a commutable distance.
- Willingness to participate in regular in-office events and meetings to foster team cohesion and collaboration.
Nice to have
- Experience with message streaming platforms such as Kafka, Redpanda, or WarpStream.
- Familiarity with healthcare integration engines like Rhapsody or Mirth Connect.
- Knowledge of message brokers such as RabbitMQ for asynchronous communication patterns.
- Experience with container orchestration using Docker, Kubernetes, and service meshes like Istio.
- Background in infrastructure as code using tools such as Ansible, Python, or Bash scripting.
- Familiarity with security protocols including SAML, OAuth, and OpenID Connect for authentication.
- Experience with SaaS products and a strong understanding of Service Oriented Architecture principles.
- Knowledge of large language model hosting platforms such as vLLM or SGLang for inference optimization.
