About the role
Bamboohr is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer specializing in transportation projects to join our Anchorage, Alaska office. What you'll do
- Lead the planning, design, and execution of transportation engineering projects, including highways, bridges, and transit systems.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, urban planners, and environmental specialists, to ensure integrated project delivery.
- Conduct thorough site assessments and feasibility studies to inform design decisions and project scope.
- Prepare detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and reports using industry-standard software and tools.
- Manage project timelines and budgets, ensuring that all deliverables are met on schedule and within financial constraints.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies to gather requirements and provide project updates.
- Perform traffic analysis and modeling to optimize transportation systems and enhance safety measures.
- Oversee construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support in their professional development.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in transportation engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain it within a specified timeframe.
- Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar tools.
- Strong understanding of transportation engineering principles, including traffic flow, roadway design, and safety analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations governing transportation projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
Nice to have
- Experience with sustainable design practices and green infrastructure solutions.
- Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its application in transportation planning.
- Previous experience working in Alaska or similar environments, with an understanding of local challenges and considerations.
