Senior Product Designer
Job description
About the role
You will define the future of B2B customer support tooling by owning the end-to-end design of our platform, ensuring that support moves from reactive silos to a unified, relationship-building engine. You will translate raw customer feedback and cross-functional collaboration into coherent product vision, setting the roadmap alongside engineers and customer-facing teams. You will craft the design system that powers Plain, from tokens and components to iconography, ensuring consistency across every touchpoint. You will pair deep UI detail orientation with a passion for customer conversations to validate ideas through real-world usage. You will design in the open, iterating in front of customers and shipping features rapidly to support the growth of companies like Cursor, Raycast, and Granola. You will build landing pages and promotional flows to announce new capabilities to the world, turning strategic vision into tangible experiences. Ultimately, you will measure success by what ships, not by the fidelity of your Figma files, using data to refine animation curves and interaction patterns.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Work on everything from early feature ideation, designing, and shipping a feature through to building and launching a landing page to announce it to the world.
- Work closely with the entire team, as well as our customers - in sketches and prototypes, Figma mocks and PRs on Github. You'll get into the weeds and measure your designs on what is shipped, not what's in Figma.
- Help set the roadmap and priorities with the rest of the team. You'll be the wide-angle lens of the team, interpreting customer feedback and your own experiences and gut and translating this into a coherent product vision.
- You will define the design system that powers Plain. From iconography to colors and design tokens and components, you will make sure that Plain's UI is built as a cohesive system.
- You will iterate and work on design in the open and create a culture where anyone feels comfortable pitching product and UI ideas.
- Explore problems through direct customer conversations, synthesizing qualitative insights into actionable design decisions that support faster team collaboration.
- Build responsive support interfaces that enable teams to move beyond reactive tickets and nurture long-term customer relationships across channels.
- Partner with engineers to translate Figma designs into production-ready HTML, CSS, and React, reviewing pull requests and ensuring design intent is maintained in code.
- Use design as a tool to drive experimentation, iterating on interaction patterns and micro-interactions to improve clarity and conversion within the support workflow.
- Contribute to the narrative of modern B2B support, demonstrating how AI and unified workflows turn customer interactions into strategic advantages.
Requirements
- You have a proven track record working for product-led companies, ideally in B2B SaaS, where shipping and iterating quickly is essential.
- You are excited about UI details as much as you are about customer conversations, balancing pixel perfection with empathy for the user.
- You are driven by impact above all, choosing outcomes over ownership and validating design through real user behavior.
- You feel comfortable taking ownership in ambiguity, thriving in a fast-moving product team that operates with chaos and adrenaline.
- You want to be involved in every aspect of a new feature from planning and scoping right through to designing, building, and sharing the story behind the work as it launches.
- You love working on intricate, complex UI and sweating the details to ensure clarity and consistency across the experience.
- You are comfortable with HTML, CSS, and React, treating code as a tool in your toolkit and feeling at home opening PRs to refine implementation.
- You prefer working in the open and defaulting to sharing early and often, seeking input from the team rather than iterating in isolation.
