About the role
Piletilevi is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Venue Apps team based in Praha, Vinohrady. This role oversees the development and maintenance of applications that serve venue-related operations and customers across multiple markets. The Engineering Manager will guide a team of software engineers through the full product lifecycle, from initial concept through deployment and ongoing iteration, while shaping technical direction and ensuring delivery of high-quality venue applications that meet user needs. The position requires close coordination with product managers, designers, and other engineering teams within the organization, and involves setting team goals, managing resources, and contributing to architectural decisions.

What you'll do
Lead and mentor a growing team of engineers who build venue-focused applications at Piletilevi
Define the technical roadmap and system architecture for the Venue Apps product line
Collaborate closely with product and design teams to translate venue needs into application features
Ensure code quality and engineering best practices are followed across the Venue Apps codebase
Manage sprint planning backlog prioritization and delivery timelines for venue application projects
Conduct performance reviews and actively support the professional growth of every engineering team member
Represent the Venue Apps team in cross-functional meetings and company-wide planning sessions
Oversee the deployment pipeline and ensure reliable consistent releases of venue applications
Identify and resolve technical blockers that affect the Venue Apps development velocity and morale
Drive continuous improvement in development processes and engineering culture within the Venue Apps group
Facilitate knowledge sharing and technical discussions to raise the overall engineering capability of the team
Partner with senior leadership to define the vision and strategy for the Venue Apps product area
Requirements
Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams that build and ship application software products on a regular basis
Strong understanding of software development lifecycle agile methodologies and iterative delivery practices in production environments
Ability to mentor engineers and foster a supportive collaborative and inclusive team culture consistently
Experience working with venue event or location-based application domains is considered a valuable asset
Proficiency in setting technical roadmaps and aligning engineering priorities with broader organizational business goals
Track record of delivering software applications on schedule and at meaningful production scale reliably
Familiarity with application architecture system design principles and patterns for building distributed systems
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams and external stakeholders effectively
Comfortable with ambiguity and able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
Experience with hiring and onboarding new engineers to build and strengthen the team over time
Nice to have
Prior experience managing teams that work on location-based or venue discovery applications is a plus
Background in building consumer-facing applications with high user engagement retention and positive feedback
Knowledge of venue management workflows and the operational challenges that venues face on a daily basis
Experience with scaling engineering organizations as product demand user base and team size all grow
Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices for application interfaces
Understanding of security best practices relevant to application development and user data protection

Proficiency in modern programming languages commonly used for application development
Experience with cloud hosting platforms and infrastructure management services
Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative development workflows
Understanding of application performance monitoring and observability tooling
Knowledge of database systems and data modeling for venue applications
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
Experience with containerization and orchestration platforms for managing application infrastructure
Familiarity with agile project management tools and team collaboration platforms

The role is based in the Vinohrady district of Praha with on-site presence expected at the office
This is a full-time employee position with standard business hours and regular team collaboration
