Senior GenAI Engineer
Job description
About the role
At Pigment, we are redefining how businesses plan, execute, and adapt in a data-driven world. As a leading AI-powered business planning and performance management platform, we connect people, data, and processes in a single, intuitive feature-rich solution. Our platform empowers teams - from Finance to HR - to build, refine, and align strategic plans in real time. We are currently seeking an experienced GenAI Engineer with a strong Computer Science background and deep experience in Large Language Models (LLMs) to join our innovative and fast-paced team. If you are passionate about machine learning, natural language processing, and shaping the future of enterprise software, this is your opportunity to make an impact at scale. This role is critical to how we evolve our product vision, operationalize AI, and maintain our position as a leader in the 2024 Gartner® Magic Quadrant™ for Financial Planning Software.
What you'll do
Your primary responsibility is to own the end-to-end journey of intelligent features, transforming messy business intent into reliable GenAI behavior. You will play a crucial role in designing, building, and refining features that power our next-generation planning and analytics capabilities. You will work closely with cross-functional partners to translate high-level product goals into production-ready components that are accurate, auditable, and scalable. This involves deep collaboration across engineering, product, and data teams to ensure that our GenAI features are not only innovative but also robust, reliable, and aligned with strict governance standards.
- Designing and improving intake flows that capture ambiguous business requests and convert them into structured, actionable prompts.
- Building and maintaining pipelines where C# and Python services integrate seamlessly with the Pigment computation engine, ensuring high performance and reliability.
- Conducting in-depth review sessions focused on measuring hallucination risk, audit trail integrity, and visualization clarity to ensure trustworthy AI outputs.
- Shipping production-grade integrations that enable business users to test GenAI features in real-world planning scenarios, driving adoption and feedback.
- Coordinating with internal and external partners to align model behavior with data contracts, compliance requirements, and regulatory expectations.
- Orchestrating and executing experiments that stress-test multi-agent workflows for reliability, scalability, and performance under load.
- Refining and optimizing prompts based on real interaction logs while preserving strict determinism, traceability, and transparency.
- Guarding production deployments by validating AI outputs against business rules, quality standards, and performance thresholds to ensure safe and consistent behavior.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you must bring more than five years of hands-on experience building systems powered by Large Language Models. You should have a deep understanding of NLP fundamentals, including token management, retrieval strategies, and structured generation techniques. You must be able to translate complex product requirements into effective prompts, robust guardrails, and comprehensive test suites that ensure quality and reliability. Experience working with deterministic pipelines that support rigorous auditability and review processes is essential. You should be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, agile environment where priorities evolve rapidly and collaboration is constant. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required to effectively partner with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A solid grasp of software engineering best practices, including code quality, version control, and testing, is non-negotiable. You must be self-motivated, curious, and committed to continuously learning and applying domain-specific knowledge to solve complex business problems.
Nice to have
Experience with agentic patterns and tool calling in production environments is highly valued. Familiarity with advanced orchestration frameworks, multi-agent systems, and prompt optimization techniques will further strengthen your candidacy.
Skills & tools
Proficiency in Python and C# is required, along with a strong understanding of Generative AI technologies and Large Language Models. Experience with frontend technologies is a plus, given the full-stack nature of the AI teams at Pigment.
