About the role
You will own the end-to-end delivery and health of engineering communities while providing clear leadership to people managers within those communities. You will act as the primary accountability hub for ensuring the right work ships on schedule by coordinating priorities, managing risks, and resolving escalations across multiple teams. You will develop and coach Engineering Managers and Technical Leads to elevate their performance and align with company standards. You will work hand-in-hand with Community Tech Leads and Product Management to translate strategic vision into executable plans. You will maintain transparent communication with leadership by articulating status, risks, and decisions in a structured and timely manner. You will champion a culture of humility, continuous improvement, and bold idea testing within your community. You will ensure that delivery practices are robust, predictable, and capable of supporting the company's rapid growth.
Key facts
What you'll do
1) Own community delivery (accountability + operating cadence)
Be accountable to engineering leadership for delivery across multiple teams in the community.
Ensure teams have clear priorities, sequencing, and commitments regarding scope, timeline, and people.
Identify risks early, including delivery delays, quality or production issues, team focus inefficiencies, and people performance.
Drive resolution with Engineering Managers and Technical Leads alongside partners.
Maintain a written, legible status of the community's key achievements, risks, and action plans.
Lead key reporting moments such as mid-quarter updates and community-level delivery reviews.
2) Lead people and organization effectiveness through EMs and TLs
Manage Engineering Managers and Technical Leads with clear expectations and regular coaching.
Set standards for feedback, performance calibration, growth plans, and remediation for under-performance when needed.
Improve the system by defining structures, processes, rituals, and staffing approaches that increase execution speed and reduce friction.
3) Drive staffing and community-level arbitration
Partner with Community Tech Leads and product leadership on staffing needs and constraints.
Drive the process to turn inputs into a committed plan that balances demand and capacity.
Resolve cross-team dependencies and trade-offs while ensuring a clear owner for escalation when alignment stalls.
Represent the community in leadership forums and ensure decisions translate into actionable plans.
4) Partner with Product & Technical leadership with clear interfaces
Collaborate as a trio with Product Management Leads and Community Tech Leads.
Work with Product Management Leads to define business outcomes and product priorities.
Collaborate with Community Tech Leads on technical approach, quality, and safety standards.
Own the committed plan and delivery landing, including escalation when necessary.
Work with Engineering Program Managers to improve coordination and execution while keeping accountability boundaries distinct.
5) Establish and maintain delivery discipline
Define and evolve operating cadences that enable predictable execution across the community.
Ensure alignment between product timelines, technical constraints, and team capacity.
Create clear escalation paths for when priorities or execution realities diverge.
6) Foster a high-performance culture
Champion a mindset of accountability, ownership, and continuous learning.
Encourage calculated risk-taking and support teams in testing bold ideas.
Promote humility and collaboration to maintain a healthy, productive environment.
7) Communicate transparently with leadership
Provide concise, structured updates on community health, delivery status, and risks.
Translate strategic intent into actionable plans that teams can execute against.
Highlight dependencies and resource needs early to avoid surprises.
8) Uphold Pigment's performance standards
Demonstrate rigor in planning, tracking, and reviewing delivery outcomes.
Use data and qualitative signals to drive decisions and improvements.
Act as a role model for operational excellence and people leadership.
Requirements
You must have several years of experience managing teams of engineers through growing and scaling phases.
You must be comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth SaaS environment.
You must have strong experience partnering with product and technical leadership to drive execution.
You must be able to read and interpret technical discussions without needing to be the expert.
You must have a track record of resolving cross-functional conflicts and aligning stakeholders.
You must be able to communicate clearly and persuasively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
You must have experience setting expectations, providing feedback, and guiding professional growth.
You must be committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
Nice to have
Experience with planning and performance software or SaaS analytics platforms.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and workflows.
Background in Consumer Packaged Goods, Retail, or Technology sectors.
Practical notes
This role is based in Paris and requires full-time on-site presence.
