What you'll do

Develop and optimize CNC lathe programs based on engineering specifications and blueprints to ensure efficient production processes.
Set up CNC lathe machines, including tooling, fixtures, and workpieces, to prepare for production runs.
Monitor machine operations during production runs to ensure adherence to quality standards and make adjustments as necessary.
Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of CNC lathes to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.
Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
Perform quality inspections on finished products using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with specifications.
Document production processes, including setup sheets and inspection reports, to maintain accurate records for quality assurance.
Train and mentor junior operators on CNC programming, machine setup, and quality control procedures to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in CNC technology to enhance skills and contribute to the team's growth.
Participate in safety meetings and adhere to all safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
Assist in the development of new tooling and fixtures to improve production efficiency and product quality.
Engage in cross-training opportunities to broaden skill sets and support team versatility in various machining operations.

Requirements

Minimum of 3 years of experience in CNC programming and operation, specifically with CNC lathes.
Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD models.
Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming languages.
Experience with CNC control systems, such as Fanuc, Haas, or similar platforms.
Ability to use precision measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges, for quality control.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail to ensure high-quality output.
Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and other departments.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in machining or a related field is preferred.

Nice to have

Familiarity with CAD/CAM software for programming and simulation purposes.
Experience in a lean manufacturing environment and knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a machining setting.
Knowledge of materials and their properties to select appropriate tooling and machining parameters.
Certification from a recognized CNC programming or machining program.
