Phoenix is looking for a Senior Full-Stack Developer who will own the end-to-end delivery of high-impact features that define the patient and physician experience on web and mobile. In this role, you will partner closely with product, clinical operations, and design to translate complex requirements into reliable, production-ready solutions. You will be responsible for making thoughtful architecture choices that balance scalability, safety, and delivery speed within a telehealth environment. The ideal candidate thinks in systems, anticipates operational risk, and writes clean, maintainable code that stands the test of time. You will bring curiosity and rigor to every feature, leveraging testing, automation, and modern tooling to ship with confidence.

What you'll do to support the company mission

• Own features end-to-end, from initial architecture and design through testing, deployment, and ongoing iteration in production.
• Build robust, reliable, and user-friendly experiences across Phoenix and Raven's patient-facing and physician-facing surfaces on both web and mobile platforms.
• Actively participate in design and architecture discussions, applying strong technical judgment to decisions that affect scalability, stability, and patient safety.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, clinical operations, and customer experience teams to move initiatives forward efficiently and remove blockers.
• Contribute to a shared codebase that the entire team can maintain, extend, and be proud of over the long term.
• Support and evolve internal tooling that keeps patient operations, fulfillment, and clinical administration running smoothly and reliably.
• Identify opportunities for AI-assisted automation across engineering workflows, internal tooling, and platform infrastructure to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Break down complex problems into manageable deliverables, ensuring thoughtful tradeoffs between speed, quality, and long-term maintainability.
• Write tests and validate behavior to ensure features are reliable, performant, and safe for real-world use in a healthcare context.
• Mentor and support other engineers by sharing knowledge, elevating code review standards, and encouraging best practices across the team.

What will help you succeed in the role

• 8+ years of professional programming experience, with 5+ years of hands-on work in Ruby on Rails.
• Comfort working with at least one modern JavaScript front-end framework, ideally React, to build interactive and responsive user interfaces.
• Experience with cloud platforms, with AWS being a strong asset for deploying and operating scalable services.
• A track record of taking ownership for thoroughly testing and deploying your own code, and following through on operational issues without handing off and walking away.
• Strong systems thinking, including the ability to recognize edge cases, operational impact, and scalability tradeoffs before they become production incidents.
• Genuine curiosity and a habit of experimenting with AI-assisted development tools, bringing that mindset into how you build, ship, and iterate on features.
• You take pride in your craft but hold your solutions loosely, embracing the best idea regardless of who brings it to the whiteboard or discussion.
• Empathy for patients, with the ability to think seriously about the people on the other end of your code and the moments where reliability truly matters.
• A personal connection to or appreciation for improving the Canadian healthcare experience, which is considered a strong asset for this role.
