What you'll do
- Immerse yourself in the intricacies of construction permitting, licensing, and inspection processes, even if you do not have prior experience in the field.
- Analyze and enhance user experience and visual design elements within the Permitflow application to ensure a user journey.
- Take the lead in shaping the strategy and making decisions regarding essential product interfaces that will define user interactions.
- Oversee design projects from inception to completion, collaborating closely with customers, engineers, and various internal teams on both internal tools and customer-facing applications.
- Set and elevate design quality benchmarks, nurturing a culture of constructive critique and a design-centric mindset within the team.
- Support the sales and marketing teams by producing collateral and branding materials as needed to promote the product effectively.
- Create a high-quality permitting product that balances aesthetic appeal with functionality, ensuring it can scale effectively to meet user demands.
- Engage with user feedback to iterate on designs, ensuring that the product continuously evolves to meet user needs and industry standards.
- Participate in design reviews and workshops, providing insights and feedback to enhance the overall design process and outcomes.
- Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in design, actively seeking opportunities to integrate innovative solutions into the product.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment between design, product, and engineering goals, fostering a cohesive development environment.
Requirements
- A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to deliver design solutions for relevant or comparable product domains.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in designing complex B2B software, particularly those that involve intricate workflows.
- Proficiency in design and project management tools such as Figma, Notion, and Linear, or similar applications.
- Demonstrated ability to excel in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where design, product, and engineering processes are continually evolving.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clarity and alignment.
- A solid technical foundation that includes an understanding of coding principles, enabling you to articulate design decisions to engineering teams effectively.

- Experience in the construction or related industries, providing insight into specific user needs and challenges.
- Familiarity with user research methodologies and usability testing to inform design decisions.
