About the role

As a Senior Data Platform Engineer at Bamboohr, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our data infrastructure. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data platforms that support our analytics and business intelligence initiatives. What you'll do

Design and develop scalable data pipelines and architectures to facilitate data collection, storage, and processing.
Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data needs and provide solutions that enable advanced analytics.
Optimize existing data workflows and processes to improve efficiency and reduce latency in data access.
Implement data governance practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and compliance with industry standards.
Monitor and troubleshoot data platform performance, identifying and resolving issues proactively.
Evaluate and integrate new data technologies and tools to enhance our data ecosystem.
Document data architecture and workflows to ensure transparency and facilitate knowledge sharing within the team.
Lead initiatives to migrate legacy systems to modern cloud-based solutions, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to foster their professional development.
Participate in code reviews and contribute to best practices in software development and data engineering.
Collaborate with IT and security teams to ensure that data platforms are secure and adhere to organizational policies.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering and analytics.

Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in data engineering or a similar role, with a strong focus on data platform development.
Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala, and experience with data processing frameworks like Apache Spark or Hadoop.
Extensive knowledge of SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or similar technologies.
Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure, particularly in relation to data storage and processing services.
Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and data warehousing concepts.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes.
Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
Knowledge of machine learning concepts and frameworks, and how they can be applied to data platforms.
Previous experience in a startup environment or fast-paced tech company.
Understanding of data privacy regulations such as GDPR and their implications for data handling.
