The Vascular Clinical Specialist serves as a key clinical resource embedded within regional sales teams to drive market development and elevate standards of patient care. This role owns the execution of localized strategies that expand product adoption and deepen procedural expertise across assigned territories. You will act as the primary clinical link between the company and its customers, translating complex product capabilities into practical solutions that address specific clinical needs. The position requires proactive identification of opportunities within hospital systems and collaboration with key decision makers to foster long-term partnerships. You will leverage extensive clinical knowledge to troubleshoot challenges and ensure optimal use of Penumbra products in real-world settings. This role also involves mentoring internal teams and contributing to the development of educational content that supports broader market success. Ultimately, the Vascular Clinical Specialist is responsible for maintaining the highest levels of quality, compliance, and customer satisfaction in all clinical interactions.

What you'll do
- Partner with Regional Sales Managers and territory teams to design and execute market development plans that increase share and service quality.
- Establish structured communication protocols with leadership and field teams to ensure alignment with quarterly objectives and strategic priorities.
- Identify and engage hospital personnel to map key stakeholders, expand departmental involvement, and uncover new opportunities for product utilization.
- Conduct in-depth consultations with current and prospective customers to clarify clinical objectives, constraints, and desired outcomes using product capabilities.
- Deliver educational presentations and live demonstrations that clearly articulate product benefits, using visual aids, case examples, and procedural models.
- Monitor evolving industry trends, therapeutic advances, and technology breakthroughs to keep customers informed and engaged.
- Support participation in external and internal educational forums such as PEER meetings and hospital stroke symposia to reinforce thought leadership.
- Train new hires, including Territory Managers and Clinical Specialists, on product knowledge, sales techniques, and operational expectations.
- Contribute to the design and refinement of Continuing Education Programs that enhance clinical understanding and product integration.
- Act as the central point for clinical inquiries, offering troubleshooting guidance, procedural coverage, and timely follow-up on product performance.
- Document and escalate all product-related incidents according to company procedures, collaborating with technical and medical affairs to resolve issues.
- Proactively build relationships with potential users, converting interest into adoption through tailored outreach and value-based discussions.
- Coordinate logistics to secure order fulfillment, manage inventory levels, and confirm delivery timelines with internal stakeholders.
- Maintain transparent dialogue with customers regarding pricing trends, promotional opportunities, and program updates that impact access and affordability.
- Develop strong rapport with physicians, laboratory staff, supervisors, and procurement leaders to influence purchasing decisions.
- Ensure strict adherence to the Company's Quality Management System, domestic regulations, and global compliance standards in every interaction.
- Apply knowledge of security, privacy, and regulatory frameworks to protect company and customer information.
- Verify that department peers consistently follow documented procedures and quality expectations.
- Perform additional assignments as requested to support organizational priorities and respond to emerging needs.
Requirements
- Hold a Bachelor's degree in communications, neuroscience, biology, or a related discipline.
- Possess additional training and certification in radiology, neuro-interventional technology, or a closely related field.
- Accumulate a minimum of 3 years' professional experience in a hospital environment or within a medical device organization.
- Consider equivalent combinations of education and hands-on experience if they demonstrate comparable competence.
- Bring a sales or marketing background that demonstrates exposure to commercial or clinical environments.
- Exhibit strong clinical acumen, technical understanding, and organizational capabilities.
- Thrive in fast-paced, high-pressure settings that demand rapid decision-making and adaptability.
- Communicate effectively through clear oral, verbal, written, and interpersonal channels across diverse audiences.
- Maintain meticulous attention to detail and high accuracy in documentation and data handling.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for daily workflow and reporting.
- Organize multiple priorities efficiently while managing concurrent projects and shifting demands.

Practical notes
Business travel from +50%. Occasional on-call availability required 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Ability to wear 7-9 pounds of lead for extended periods of time in the angio suite. Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds. Must be able to move between buildings and floors. Must be able to remain stationary and use a computer or other standard office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine, for an extensive period of time each day. Must be able to read, prepare emails, and produce documents and spreadsheets. Must be able to move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies, as needed. Must be able to communicate and exchange accurate information with employees at all levels on a daily basis.
