About the role
This role involves supporting the marketing team at Penumbrainc by helping to organize and carry out promotional activities for specific vascular products. The intern will work closely with direct supervisors to create materials that help sell these specialized medical devices to healthcare professionals. They will also gather important clinical information to build the scientific case for why these products are valuable to doctors and researchers. The position requires being physically present at the office and moving through different work environments, including areas with strict cleanliness standards and laboratory settings. The intern will contribute directly to ongoing campaigns and learn how medical marketing supports patient care. They must be comfortable transitioning between office desks, lab benches, and cleanroom areas as needed.
Key facts
What you'll do
1 Support the creation and distribution of promotional materials and sales aids for assigned vascular devices used by physicians.
2 Help the marketing group refresh and maintain the Vascular product website content on a regular basis.
3 Go to industry trade shows and gatherings to learn how Penumbra products are used clinically in the field.
4 Gather and examine clinical trial data for both Penumbra and rival products to identify major studies, endpoints, and trends.
5 Track upcoming trial dates, key end points, and data release schedules to aid scientific presentations and publications.
6 Review the ShowPad platform and suggest updates, removals, additions, or complete overhauls of its existing content.
7 Follow the company quality management system along with all domestic and international quality rules and standard procedures.
8 Apply knowledge of security, privacy, and compliance rules to daily work activities and standard operating procedures.
9 Guide fellow team members to ensure they properly follow quality standards and regulatory guidelines during their tasks.
10 Take on additional job tasks and responsibilities as requested by the marketing leadership team throughout the internship.
Requirements
1 Hold a high school diploma and have completed at least two years of college coursework in a related academic field.
2 College studies must focus on biology, neuroscience, business, or another closely related academic discipline to qualify.
3 Possess one or more years of prior experience in business, administration, or marketing roles within a professional setting.
4 An equivalent mix of education and hands-on professional experience is also accepted for this specific role.
5 Demonstrate strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other typical office software programs that are used daily.
6 Be capable of working on site in Alameda, CA, rather than from a remote location or home.
7 Understand the importance of adhering to strict quality management and regulatory compliance standards throughout the workday.
8 Have the physical capability to lift and move items weighing up to twenty-five pounds without assistance.

1 This is a part time position requiring thirty-two hours of work each week to fulfill the required internship duties.

4 Staff must move between different buildings and floors throughout the Alameda campus regularly during the workday.

6 Complete tasks including reading materials, preparing emails, and producing documents and spreadsheets accurately for daily operations.
7 Staff must move within the office and access file cabinets or supplies as needed throughout the day.
8 Constant communication with employees across all organizational levels is required to exchange accurate information every single day.
