About the role
At PayPay, we are on a mission to maximize capital efficiency and maintain financial soundness while supporting business growth and achieving long-term strategic objectives. As a part of our finance management team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our group financial coordination, focusing on liquidity, interest rate, credit risk, and regulatory ratios. This position will involve strategic initiatives in fundraising through bank loans and bond issuance, as well as improving asset-liability management (ALM) for PayPay Bank. You will be empowered to take ownership of key financial themes, working closely with various stakeholders to drive new value creation and ensure robust financial planning.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Collaborate with group companies and financial subsidiaries to manage financial planning, fund management, and fundraising activities.
- Develop and oversee capital market strategies, including credit ratings, commercial paper (CP) and bond issuance, and securitization schemes.
- Manage the group's overall fund management, focusing on cash flow management, liquidity planning, and debt balance oversight.
- Establish and implement internal rules and processes related to financial operations, ensuring compliance and efficiency.
- Negotiate with financial institutions regarding funding, currency exchange, remittances, cash management, and risk hedging.
- Aggregate, analyze, and visualize financial, risk, and fund-related data across the group.
- Formulate financial strategies, ALM policies, and specific initiatives based on analytical findings.
- Prepare consolidated financial reports for internal stakeholders and external investors, including Q&A sessions.
- Participate in regular meetings at the Tokyo office (Yotsuya) approximately twice a week.
- Engage in high-level decision-making processes, directly contributing to the financial strategy and growth of PayPay.
Requirements
- Proven experience in asset-liability management (ALM), fundraising, and liquidity or interest rate risk management.
- Ability to translate regulatory and risk constraints into actionable strategies.
- Experience in coordinating and reaching consensus with various departments and affiliated companies.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and presentation.
- A solid understanding of financial regulations and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
Nice to have
- Experience in ALM, financial planning, treasury, or risk management within major financial institutions such as megabanks.
- Familiarity with capital market fundraising activities, including CP and bond issuance.
- Previous involvement in preparing materials for external stakeholders such as investor relations (IR) and credit rating agencies.
- Knowledge of financial regulations and compliance frameworks, particularly in the fintech sector.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel for financial modeling and analysis.
- Skilled in PowerPoint for creating impactful presentations and reports.
- Experience with financial management software and tools for data analysis.
- Familiarity with risk management frameworks and methodologies.
- Strong understanding of financial markets and instruments.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both Japanese and English, especially for discussions with international investors and stakeholders.
Practical notes
- This position is classified as a full-time role with a hybrid workstyle, requiring attendance at the Tokyo office approximately twice a week.
- The working hours are based on a super-flex system with no core time, typically from 9 AM to 5:45 PM, allowing for a flexible schedule.
- Employees are entitled to weekends, public holidays, and designated company holidays, along with annual paid leave that begins with 14 days in the first year.
