About the role
PayPay is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our risk management team within T&D Financial Life. This role is essential for establishing, maintaining, and enhancing the risk management framework necessary for a life insurance company to operate safely and soundly. You will be responsible for monitoring various types of risks, including underwriting, asset-liability management, liquidity, credit, and operational risks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies. Collaboration with multiple departments such as actuarial, asset management, product development, and accounting is a key aspect of this position. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the company's stability and regulatory compliance, contributing to the development of risk management strategies and reporting processes.

What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and operate the risk management framework specifically designed for the life insurance business, ensuring it aligns with regulatory requirements and internal standards.
- Monitor and analyze underwriting risks, assessing the potential impact on the company's financial health and operational stability.
- Conduct asset-liability management (ALM) analysis to optimize the balance between assets and liabilities, minimizing risks related to interest rate fluctuations and market movements.
- Evaluate liquidity risks to ensure the company maintains sufficient cash flow and liquid assets to meet obligations.
- Assess credit risks associated with counterparties, investments, and other financial transactions to prevent potential losses.
- Monitor operational risks that could arise from internal processes, systems, or external events, and implement mitigation strategies.
- Review and analyze risk factors related to reserves, ensuring compliance with solvency regulations and economic value-based standards.
- Conduct Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) processes, preparing detailed reports and providing insights to senior management.
- Collaborate with asset management, actuarial, product, and accounting teams to gather relevant data, assess risks, and develop mitigation strategies.
- Establish, update, and oversee risk management policies, procedures, and monitoring indicators to ensure ongoing compliance and risk control.
- Prepare and maintain documentation related to risk management activities, including reports for internal use and regulatory submissions.
- Coordinate with the parent company's risk management team to ensure alignment with group-wide policies and standards.
- Support regulatory compliance efforts by preparing documentation and reports required by authorities such as the Financial Services Agency.
- Participate in internal audits and risk assessments, providing necessary information and support.
- Contribute to the development of risk management tools and methodologies to improve risk assessment accuracy.
- Provide training and guidance to relevant staff on risk management policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to risk management in the insurance sector.
- Support the company's efforts to enhance risk awareness and culture across departments.
- Assist in the development of contingency plans and crisis management strategies to address potential risk events.
- Support the integration of risk management considerations into new product development and business initiatives.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of risk management processes and systems to adapt to changing business conditions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in risk management, management, actuarial science, product development, asset management, auditing, or compliance within a life insurance company or related fields.
- Strong understanding of insurance risk management frameworks, regulations, and standards.
- Proven ability to analyze complex data related to underwriting, ALM, liquidity, credit, and operational risks.
- Experience conducting ORSA processes and preparing related reports.
- Knowledge of reserves, solvency regulations, and economic value-based standards applicable to life insurance companies.
- Excellent communication skills to facilitate collaboration with internal teams and external regulators.
- Basic documentation skills to organize issues, prepare reports, and support regulatory filings.
- Proactive approach to identifying potential risks and implementing effective mitigation strategies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Familiarity with risk assessment tools, analytical software, and reporting systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Experience working in a Japanese insurance company environment is preferred.
