About the role
Join PayPay's finance management team as a vital contributor to the enhancement of financial operations and internal management systems. This on-site role involves working closely with various departments to develop detailed requirements, improve existing processes, and ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations. You will be responsible for supporting the development of innovative financial services, streamlining workflows, and driving efficiency across the organization. The position offers an opportunity to be involved in a broad range of activities, including project management, system analysis, and collaboration with legal and compliance teams, all aimed at strengthening PayPay's financial infrastructure and service offerings.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Develop and specify detailed business and system requirements for new financial services and existing operations, ensuring they align with legal standards and internal policies.
- Collaborate with multiple teams, including IT, legal, and compliance, to manage project timelines, coordinate activities, and prepare comprehensive reports for executive decision-making.
- Analyze current financial operations and identify areas for improvement, proposing system enhancements or process changes to address inefficiencies or gaps.
- Lead or support projects related to financial system implementation, including planning, UAT design, and execution, ensuring smooth deployment and adoption.
- Create and maintain detailed business requirement documents (BRDs) in collaboration with system development teams, ensuring clarity and completeness.
- Assist in defining operational workflows, business processes, and internal controls to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Support the development and maintenance of management information systems (MIS) used in corporate planning and business management, ensuring data accuracy and usability.
- Contribute to broader financial planning initiatives within the PayPay group, such as budgeting, forecasting, and strategic analysis, depending on your skills and interests.
- Engage with legal and compliance teams to ensure all financial processes and systems meet regulatory standards and internal policies.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings to align project goals, deliverables, and timelines across departments.
- Occasionally visit the Tokyo office in Yotsuya for team collaboration, project meetings, and stakeholder engagement, as required.
- Support the ongoing review and optimization of financial workflows and internal controls to enhance operational efficiency and risk management.
- Assist in the preparation of documentation and reports for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with applicable standards.
- Contribute to the development of training materials and user guides for new systems or process changes, facilitating smooth adoption across teams.
- Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and communicate updates to stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of initiatives.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and technological advancements relevant to financial operations and system management.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in business planning or BPR within a financial institution or fintech company.
- Proven track record in defining business and system requirements, including managing projects through to UAT, with strong documentation skills.
- Experience in creating detailed business requirement documents (BRDs) and collaborating effectively with system development teams.
- Ability to lead or support service planning initiatives from concept through to launch, with an understanding of legal and compliance considerations.
- Familiarity with management information systems (MIS) used in corporate planning, business management, or financial operations.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple departments and manage project timelines.
- Knowledge of financial regulations related to payment services, debt management, and related compliance standards.
- Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis is a plus, enabling effective data-driven decision-making.
- Ability to communicate fluently in English for business documentation, collaboration, and reporting purposes.
- Basic understanding of bookkeeping principles, ideally at Level 3 of the Japanese Bookkeeping Certification, is desirable.
- Experience working in a hybrid environment with flexibility in work arrangements, demonstrating adaptability and independence.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to have
- Experience conducting Fit & Gap analysis for existing and new financial systems, identifying areas for improvement and customization.
- Familiarity with ERP systems, especially those managing accounts receivable and payable, to support financial workflows.
- Background in project management within banking, fintech, or related financial sectors, with knowledge of project methodologies.
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for payment services, debt collection, and related compliance issues.
- Experience working with international teams and documents in English, facilitating cross-border collaboration.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping principles, with at least Level 3 certification in Japanese bookkeeping, to support financial accuracy.
- Ability to adapt to evolving project scopes and organizational priorities, demonstrating flexibility and proactive problem-solving.
