Paradigmae is seeking a dedicated Civil Engineer, either a Professional Engineer (PE) or Engineer in Training (EIT), to join our dynamic team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. What you'll do
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement civil engineering projects, including roadways, bridges, and water management systems.
- Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to evaluate project viability and compliance with local regulations.
- Prepare detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various infrastructure projects.
- Utilize advanced engineering software and tools to create accurate models and simulations for project analysis.
- Oversee construction activities to ensure adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines.
- Engage with clients and stakeholders to communicate project progress, address concerns, and incorporate feedback into project plans.
- Perform calculations and analyses related to structural integrity, environmental impact, and resource management.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance project outcomes and engineering methodologies.
- Mentor junior engineers and interns, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
- Participate in project meetings and presentations, effectively conveying technical information to non-engineering audiences.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Contribute to the preparation of grant applications and proposals for funding opportunities related to civil engineering projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Current Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or similar applications.
- Strong understanding of local, state, and federal regulations governing civil engineering practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality standards.
- Experience in project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Familiarity with sustainable engineering practices and environmental considerations in project design.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for spatial analysis and mapping.
- Knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
- Previous involvement in community engagement initiatives related to infrastructure development.
- Certification in project management (PMP or similar) is a plus.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in engineering design software, including AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft Project or similar applications.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills for engineering calculations and assessments.
- Ability to utilize simulation software for modeling and analysis of engineering systems.
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in civil engineering.
