About the role
You are the strategic talent partner who owns the design recruiting strategy for one of the fastest-growing companies in local business software. You will own the end-to-end recruitment lifecycle for design roles, ensuring that every hire accelerates the product vision for restaurant owners. You will act as the primary advisor to hiring managers, shaping hiring strategies and defining what exceptional design talent means for each opening. You will build a scalable pipeline of world-class designers who can translate complex problems into elegant, user-centric solutions. This role requires you to champion the mission of Owner while rigorously assessing both skill and cultural contribution. You will directly influence the quality and impact of the design organization for years to come.

What you'll do
Source and identify top-tier design candidates using advanced research techniques and creative sourcing channels specific to the design community.
Partner with hiring managers to deeply understand team goals, role requirements, and the specific qualities that define exceptional design talent for each opening.
Drive the full recruiting lifecycle with precision and velocity, from initial kickoff to offer negotiation and acceptance.
Conduct insightful interviews that evaluate both design capability and problem-solving potential, ensuring a strong fit for the mission of Owner.
Build and manage a robust pipeline of high-caliber design professionals to support current and future hiring demands.
Execute creative sourcing strategies to surface passive candidates who are not actively seeking but are the ideal fit for critical design roles.
Serve as the primary champion of the candidate experience, ensuring clear, timely, and respectful communication throughout every stage of the process.
Collaborate closely with hiring managers to define interview structures, evaluate portfolios, and assess work relevant to design systems and user flows.
Analyze recruitment metrics and data trends week over week to identify bottlenecks and optimize sourcing and hiring strategies.
Act as a trusted advisor, translating business needs into compelling role propositions that attract elite design professionals to Owner.
Requirements
6+ years of full-cycle design recruiting experience, with a consistent track record of attracting and closing world-class engineering and design talent.
Deep expertise in sourcing, including fluency with advanced research techniques and outreach strategies across design-focused platforms and communities.
Exceptional organizational skills, demonstrated by the ability to manage dozens of moving parts without dropping the ball in a fast-paced environment.
Clear, persuasive communication skills, with the ability to pitch a role with credibility and enthusiasm to stakeholders at every level of the organization.
Detail-oriented, self-motivated, and resourceful, operating with urgency and taking ownership without waiting to be told what to do.
A growth mindset and a high standard for quality, with a commitment to continuously refining and improving your recruiting craft.
Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with passive candidates and ensure a respectful, transparent candidate journey.
Strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive hiring information and representing the company brand.
Nice to have
Experience recruiting for remote-first, distributed teams where collaboration spans global time zones.
Familiarity with the design tools and workflows used by product and UI/UX teams in high-growth tech companies.
Understanding of the local business technology landscape and the unique challenges faced by restaurant owners.
Practical notes
This role is 100% remote and can be based anywhere in the United States.
The expectation is that this role will be 50% sourcing and 50% full cycle.
The company offers a generous pre-IPO equity package as part of the total compensation.
Owner is a remote-first, global company with a sales hub in Toronto and a headquarters in San Francisco. Some roles may prioritize in-person collaboration at office locations.
