What you'll do
- Develop and implement HR policies and procedures that comply with legal requirements and reflect best practices in human resources management.
- Collaborate with department heads to identify staffing needs and assist in the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screenings, and interview coordination.
- Conduct comprehensive onboarding programs for new hires, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to integrate smoothly into the company culture.
- Manage employee relations by addressing workplace issues, mediating conflicts, and providing guidance on performance management and disciplinary actions.
- Oversee the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks, ensuring employees are well-informed about their options.
- Analyze employee feedback and engagement survey results to identify areas for improvement and develop action plans to enhance workplace satisfaction.
- Facilitate training and development initiatives that promote professional growth and skill enhancement among employees.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in labor laws to ensure the company remains compliant and competitive in its HR practices.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement diversity and inclusion initiatives that promote a welcoming environment for all employees.
- Assist in the development of succession planning strategies to ensure a robust talent pipeline for key positions within the organization.
- Prepare and analyze HR metrics and reports to inform decision-making and improve HR processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in human resources, with a focus on generalist functions.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations in Canada, particularly in British Columbia.
- Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret HR metrics to drive decision-making.
- Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Nice to have
- Certification from a recognized HR professional body (e.g., CHRP, CHRL, or SHRM).
- Experience in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
- Knowledge of payroll systems and compensation analysis.
- Familiarity with employee engagement tools and platforms.
- Previous experience in developing training programs and facilitating workshops.
Skills & tools
The ideal candidate will possess a robust set of skills that includes strong problem-solving abilities, excellent verbal and written communication, and a proactive approach to HR challenges. Familiarity with HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems) and other HR management tools will be advantageous. The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being self-motivated is crucial for success in this role.
