Bamboohr is seeking a dedicated and skilled DevOps & Build Engineer to join our dynamic team in New Westminster, British Columbia. Key facts
What you'll do
- Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, test, and deployment processes for our applications.
- Collaborate with software engineers to optimize the development workflow and ensure seamless integration of new features.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues to maintain high availability and reliability of our applications.
- Manage infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation to provision and manage cloud resources.
- Implement and maintain containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes to enhance application scalability.
- Develop and maintain documentation for deployment processes, system configurations, and operational procedures.
- Conduct regular security assessments and implement best practices to safeguard our infrastructure and applications.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for production systems and respond to incidents as they arise.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and provide technical guidance on infrastructure-related projects.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our DevOps practices.
- Support the migration of legacy systems to modern cloud-based architectures, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning within the team.
Requirements
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a DevOps or Build Engineering role, with a strong understanding of software development processes.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Ruby to automate tasks and streamline workflows.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI for building and deploying applications.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including services like EC2, S3, and RDS.
- Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to automate system configurations.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols, as well as experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus or Grafana.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with serverless architectures and technologies such as AWS Lambda or Azure Functions.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools like Jira or Trello for project management.
- Knowledge of database management systems, including SQL and NoSQL databases, to support application development.
- Experience with security best practices and compliance frameworks relevant to cloud infrastructure.
