About the role
You will own the design and execution of competitive intelligence initiatives that directly inform Oscar's product strategy and portfolio decisions in key operating geographies. This role requires you to act as the primary intelligence lead for the Insurance Product organization, synthesizing complex market signals into clear, actionable recommendations. You will monitor and interpret competitor moves, regulatory shifts, and emerging market dynamics to protect and expand Oscar's market position. The role is structured as a strategic partnership with product leadership and market teams, ensuring that intelligence directly supports retention, growth, and portfolio performance objectives. You will operate with autonomy, translating ambiguous data into structured insights that influence high-stakes product decisions. This position reports directly into the Vice President, Insurance Product Innovation and Development, embedding you at the center of strategic planning. You will be expected to uphold the highest standards of compliance while driving forward Oscar's mission of building a health insurance company that behaves like a doctor in the family.

What you'll do
Monitor competitor product strategies, benefits, network positioning, and market activity across all active geographies and segments.
Develop detailed competitor profiles, market summaries, and executive ready presentations that highlight strategic implications for the product portfolio.
Conduct market and competitive analysis using regulatory filings, enrollment data, financial reports, consumer insights, and industry research to identify patterns and anomalies.
Support the development of product and market recommendations specifically tied to growth, retention, and portfolio optimization goals.
Partner with product, actuarial, network, clinical, sales, and market leadership teams to evaluate market opportunities, growth potential, and associated risks.
Produce recurring reporting and ad hoc analyses related to product positioning, market dynamics, and competitor performance metrics.
Identify emerging trends, disruptive market shifts, and new ideas across the healthcare landscape that could impact Oscar's strategic roadmap.
Support strategic planning programs and market-specific business case development to ensure decisions are grounded in robust intelligence.
Contribute to the development of standardized product specific intelligence frameworks and processes to improve consistency and efficiency.
Ensure strict compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies in the collection, analysis, and dissemination of intelligence.
Perform other duties as assigned by leadership to address evolving business needs and priorities.
Requirements
Hold a Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare administration, marketing, economics, public health, or a related field.
Bring a minimum of 6+ years of experience in healthcare strategy, market intelligence, insurance product, analytics, or consulting.
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of the ACA, QHP plans, and health insurance market dynamics across multiple segments.
Show a proven ability to develop executive-level presentations and recommendations that influence leadership decisions.
Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time to support business needs and market engagements.
Reside in one of the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, or Virginia. Note, this list of states is subject to change.
Nice to have
Possess experience within a multi-state health plan, consulting firm, or healthcare strategy organization.
Have hands-on experience using market intelligence tools, dashboards, or visualization platforms to derive insights.
Show proficiency with Excel and SQL to manipulate and analyze data, including R and/or Python.
Demonstrate a proven ability to navigate ambiguity, guide outcomes, work with large datasets, and distill analyses into relevant business insights using a structured and systematic thought process.
Have experience mentoring junior team members across functions to elevate team capability and collaboration.
