About the role
In this position, you will be instrumental in developing the essential systems that monitor customer usage, manage entitlements, and activate actions based on real-time billing information. Your work will involve creating foundational components that empower customers to track their usage, manage expenditures, and gain immediate insights into their analytics. This role uniquely combines advanced systems engineering with direct engagement with customers and product design.

What you'll do
- Assume complete responsibility for a specific product area, guiding it from initial customer engagement and design through to implementation and launch.
- Design and implement alerting and analytics functionalities that are accurate, flexible, and capable of meeting strict latency service level agreements.
- Construct essential features for entitlement management and expenditure control, such as credit balances, usage percentage alerts, allocations, and rate limits, all enforced in real-time against billing data.
- Shape the future trajectory, core components, and interfaces that will be utilized by other development teams.
- Work collaboratively with product management, design, sales, and customer success teams, while directly interacting with enterprise and AI clients to convert their requirements into actionable product features.
- Ensure high performance and low latency in system designs, making informed decisions based on a solid understanding of real-time processing.
- Engage in meticulous API design and data modeling that will serve both internal teams and external customers effectively.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team.
- Mentor junior engineers, sharing your expertise and guiding them in best practices for software development.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, applying this knowledge to enhance product offerings and engineering practices.
- Contribute to the overall engineering culture, advocating for best practices in software development and promoting a collaborative working environment.
Requirements
- A minimum of 9 years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of owning products or systems from inception to completion.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments where ownership is paramount, with a desire to influence not just the implementation but also the design and direction of products.
- Strong product intuition and a deep understanding of customer needs, enjoying close interactions with users and recognizing the business implications of your work.
- Proficiency in designing APIs and data models that will be utilized by both internal teams and external clients.
- Adept at making informed decisions regarding real-time and low-latency performance considerations, backed by sufficient systems knowledge.
- A keen eye for detail across all aspects of development, including API design and user experience.
Nice to have
- Experience with cloud services, particularly AWS, to enhance system scalability and reliability.
- Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks and libraries, such as React and Tailwind CSS.
- Previous experience in a startup environment, demonstrating adaptability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
