Procurement Enablement Lead

About the role

This role focuses on enhancing how employees and stakeholders interact with procurement processes at OpenAI. You will collaborate across multiple departments to simplify workflows, improve guidance, and create scalable procurement experiences throughout the entire procurement lifecycle. The ideal candidate will translate procurement policies into clear processes and intuitive employee experiences, reducing friction while strengthening controls as the company expands.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with Procurement, Finance, Legal, Security, Privacy, and Enterprise Technology to refine how procurement requests are made, routed, approved, and supported.
• Design and improve procurement intake and guidance to simplify navigation for employees and stakeholders.
• Convert procurement policies, operational needs, and feedback into clear business requirements for workflows, automation, and reporting.
• Work with Enterprise Technology to enhance workflow configurations within procurement systems, including approvals, routing, and escalation paths.
• Identify opportunities to use AI, automation, and analytics to reduce manual tasks and improve service delivery in Procurement operations.
• Analyze operational data, workflow metrics, and stakeholder feedback to pinpoint issues, identify trends, and prioritize improvements.
• Develop and maintain operational reporting, KPI frameworks, and performance insights to support data-driven decision-making.
• Assist in the rollout and adoption of new procurement processes and tools through testing, documentation, and training.
• Enhance consistency, controls, and data quality across procurement workflows for scalability and audit readiness.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in Procurement Technology, Procurement Operations, Finance Operations, or similar roles focused on operations and systems.
• Direct experience with procurement and finance platforms like Zip, Oracle Fusion, VNDLY, Navan, or Brex.
• Deep operational understanding of Source-to-Contract, Procure-to-Pay, Travel & Expense, and Contingent Workforce processes.
• Experience designing, improving, and scaling operational workflows and automation in complex enterprise settings.
• Strong analytical skills, including working with operational metrics, workflow data, and large datasets to drive improvements.
• Ability to use data to identify trends, measure adoption, prioritize enhancements, and communicate insights to stakeholders.
• Understanding of procurement controls and governance, including approval frameworks, audit trails, SOX-aware process design, and risk management.
• Experience applying AI tools, including GPT-based capabilities, automation, analytics, or decision support solutions to improve operational workflows.
• Proven ability to translate business requirements into scalable workflows and system solutions, collaborating with technology teams.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management skills across various departments.
• Proficiency in process documentation and operational playbook development, creating clear SOPs and workflow maps.
• Experience leading rollout, change management, training, and communication efforts to ensure adoption.
