About the role
Onbe is a fast-growing financial technology firm that acts as a payments partner for its clientele. As an integral member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Corporate Controller will be instrumental in guiding the Accounting department. This role encompasses the management of all operational accounting functions, the consolidation of financial data for reporting purposes, and the enhancement of internal control frameworks.

What you'll do
- Oversee the daily functions of the accounting department, which includes billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash management, and the preparation of financial reports.
- Manage the closing processes at the end of each month, quarter, and year, along with the generation of financial statements.
- Analyze data to provide insights for operational improvements, including the integration of multiple accounting systems.
- Supervise the preparation and filing of various tax documents, including sales tax and property tax submissions.
- Establish and maintain controls to safeguard company assets, while recommending enhancements to financial policies and procedures.
- Lead the annual audit process in partnership with external auditors to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Ensure timely cash collections by overseeing monthly billing cycles and implementing effective cash management strategies.
- Prepare comprehensive monthly reporting packages for stakeholders and lenders to keep them informed of financial status.
- Guarantee compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations governing financial practices.
- Effectively lead and nurture the accounting team, which includes recruiting new talent as needed.
- Oversee the preparation of tax returns by both internal and external accounting professionals.
- Collaborate with various departments to build strong working relationships and enhance operational efficiency.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within accounting processes and implement new strategies as needed.
- Address ad-hoc requests and manage special projects, including system upgrades, workflow automation, and vendor cost evaluations.
Requirements
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in corporate accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field is essential.
- CPA certification is required, whether active or inactive.
- Extensive knowledge of GAAP, accounting policies, and compliance regulations is crucial.
- Significant experience in corporate taxation is highly desirable.
- A background in professional services, financial services, or wealth management is strongly preferred.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an emphasis on team development and collaboration.
- Familiarity with Great Plains or comparable ERP systems is preferred.
- Experience with ERP system implementation is an added advantage.

Practical notes
The compensation for this position ranges from $200,000 to $230,000, with the possibility of an annual bonus. The final salary will be determined based on various factors, including the candidate's qualifications, relevant experience, education, certifications, and prevailing market conditions.
