About the role

OKX is seeking a Senior Director of AI to oversee both product strategy and team development. You will manage a high-performing group while remaining hands-on with the design, evaluation, and deployment of autonomous agent systems. In this capacity, you will define the technical vision for AI products that operate with a high degree of independence. You will ensure that complex systems are reliable, measurable, and aligned with business objectives. The role requires balancing innovative research with the practical constraints of production environments. You will act as a bridge between cutting-edge algorithmic work and the engineering realities of scaling AI solutions.

What you'll do

• Recruit, manage, and mentor a team of AI researchers and engineers to drive ambitious projects.
• Oversee the full lifecycle of autonomous AI agent products from initial architecture to production deployment and iteration.
• Build benchmark-driven evaluation frameworks to replace manual testing with quantitative quality metrics and objective analysis.
• Develop agent harness infrastructure to ensure system stability, security, and performance in complex and dynamic environments.
• Balance creative LLM reasoning with deterministic guardrails to maintain safety and reliability in user-facing applications.
• Integrate AI agent capabilities into core engineering pipelines and products to enhance automation and operational efficiency.
• Coordinate with business, engineering, and product leadership to align technical goals with company strategy and market demands.
• Establish clear technical standards and best practices for the development and deployment of AI agent systems.
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation within the AI development lifecycle.
• Foster a culture of experimentation and data-driven decision-making within the AI team.

Requirements

• Hold a Master's or PhD degree in AI, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field, with a PhD being strongly preferred.
• Bring 10 or more years of hands-on experience in ML/AI research, platform development, or productization within major technology firms or equivalent environments.
• Demonstrate deep expertise in Generative AI, Large Language Models, reinforcement learning, deep learning architectures, and recommendation systems.
• Show a proven track record of successfully designing, building, and launching autonomous AI agent products that deliver real-world value.
• Have direct experience applying AI methodologies to improve developer productivity and streamline engineering workflows.
• Show fluency in both English and Mandarin to enable effective cross-regional collaboration with global and local teams.
• Possess a strong understanding of software engineering principles, data structures, and system design patterns.
• Exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity in fast-paced, dynamic technical environments.

Nice to have

• Have prior experience working at an AI-native startup or within a frontier AI laboratory where rapid innovation is the norm.
• Have industry-recognized technical contributions, patents, or peer-reviewed research publications that demonstrate thought leadership.
• Bring specific knowledge of technical challenges and constraints within fintech, crypto, or high-frequency data processing environments.
• Have experience working with distributed teams across different time zones and cultural contexts.
• Show familiarity with open-source AI frameworks and community contributions.
