Oddball is seeking a QA/Business Analyst to join our DHA EIDS team. This position is vital in ensuring the quality and integrity of healthcare data within a complex federal environment. The role involves working closely with stakeholders to understand business needs, translating those into test cases, and validating data processes to ensure accuracy and compliance. The ideal candidate will have experience in data quality assurance, especially within federal or enterprise settings, and will play a key role in supporting our mission to improve healthcare data systems. What you'll do

• Develop, implement, and maintain both automated and manual test cases and plans to verify the accuracy and integrity of Department of Defense healthcare data across multiple pipelines, ETL processes, and system integrations.
• Validate the correctness of data transformation processes by comparing source datasets with target datasets after ETL operations, ensuring data consistency and completeness.
• Analyze complex databases and data repositories to identify discrepancies, inconsistencies, or anomalies that could impact data quality or system performance.
• AI tools to assist in identifying data irregularities, creating comprehensive test cases, generating SQL validation queries, and supporting defect analysis activities.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather detailed requirements, including user stories and acceptance criteria, ensuring test cases align with business needs.
• Maintain traceability matrices to link requirements with test cases and results, supporting thorough documentation and audit readiness.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospectives to ensure testing activities are integrated into development cycles.
• Produce detailed testing documentation, including test plans, test cases, defect reports, and summaries of testing outcomes.
• Track, prioritize, and communicate defects or issues identified during testing, providing clear and actionable reports to development and project teams.
• Assist in the review and validation of system updates, patches, or new features to ensure they meet quality standards before deployment.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback on testing processes and suggesting enhancements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Communicate complex technical issues and testing results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including project leadership.
• Ensure compliance with federal data security and privacy standards, including HIPAA regulations, especially when handling sensitive healthcare data.
• Contribute to the development of testing automation frameworks and scripts to streamline repetitive testing tasks.
• Stay current with emerging trends and tools in QA, data validation, and AI-assisted testing to bring innovative solutions to the team.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in QA and data quality assurance, preferably within enterprise or federal health data environments.
• Strong proficiency in SQL across various dialects, with demonstrated experience in querying and analyzing complex relational databases.
• Experience in testing and validating ETL workflows, data pipelines, and system integrations.
• Knowledge of both manual testing methodologies and automated testing tools, with the ability to develop and execute test scripts.
• Familiarity with AI tools that support test planning, execution, and data anomaly detection is highly desirable.
• Prior experience working with Department of Defense, Veterans Affairs, or healthcare data systems, with an understanding of HIPAA and other relevant regulations.
• Experience with Azure DevOps or similar platforms for test management, bug tracking, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
• Willingness to learn new tools and techniques, and to adapt testing strategies as needed.
• Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail in complex data environments.
• Ability to perform additional related tasks as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive attitude.

Nice to have

• Experience working within federal agencies or military health systems.
• Knowledge of federal security clearance processes or the ability to obtain a clearance if required.
• Familiarity with other testing automation frameworks beyond SQL and manual testing tools.
• Experience with data governance, compliance, and security standards specific to federal health data.
• Exposure to cloud platforms beyond Azure, such as AWS or Google Cloud, for data storage and processing.
• Understanding of data privacy laws and regulations impacting healthcare data management.

• Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.

• This role is on-site at the remote location, working within the federal health data environment, with an emphasis on data security and compliance.
• Candidates should be prepared to demonstrate their experience with data validation, SQL, and testing methodologies during the interview process.
• The position offers a competitive salary within the range of $90,000 to $120,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
