About the role
Oddball is on the lookout for a skilled Proposal Writer to become an integral part of our Proposal team. In this position, you will be responsible for shaping the content strategy and crafting responses to government Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Quotes (RFQs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and other vital documents that drive our business initiatives. Your expertise will play a crucial role in helping us secure new opportunities and expand our reach.

What you'll do
- Lead the comprehensive planning and development of proposal content, including the creation of graphics, peer reviews, and editing for a variety of proposal documents, such as technical approaches, management strategies, corporate experience, staffing plans, and vendor-generated Performance Work Statements.
- Work closely with teams across proposal development, business development, capture management, solutioning, and operations to identify and resolve challenges in producing compliant, responsive, and compelling proposals.
- Conduct interviews with subject matter experts to extract and refine technical information, transforming it into clear, persuasive narratives and visual presentations.
- Act as a representative of the Proposal team and Oddball, managing relationships with colleagues, cross-functional teams, executives, and external stakeholders to ensure cohesive input and alignment throughout the proposal development process.
- Employ AI tools judiciously to enhance your writing while ensuring originality and critical thinking; engage in constructive feedback on your drafts and verify that all content is supported by credible sources.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of writing practices, proposal processes, and overall team growth at Oddball.
- Ensure that all proposals align with Oddball's mission and values, positioning the company favorably to secure contracts.
- Maintain a proactive approach to learning about industry trends and government contracting practices to enhance proposal quality and effectiveness.
Requirements
- Proven experience in leading proposal submissions for U.S. federal government clients, particularly in dynamic and multi-phase environments.
- Exceptional writing skills to clearly convey complex technical concepts and our value proposition to diverse stakeholders.
- Familiarity with U.S. federal agencies, especially experience with proposals for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), and Department of the Army (DoW).
- Comprehensive understanding of federal contracting, including the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), contract vehicles, and the business development lifecycle.
- Knowledge of current government technology trends, such as agile methodologies, human-centered design, DevSecOps, cloud infrastructure, and product management.
- Ability to excel under tight deadlines while working collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Strong communication and persuasive skills, whether interviewing subject matter experts, providing constructive feedback to peers, or presenting to leadership.

At Oddball, we are committed to providing fair and competitive salaries for our employees. The compensation for this role ranges from $110,000 to $140,000, depending on the job category, location, and individual qualifications.
