We are currently seeking Smart Meter Engineers who have a proven history of prioritizing safety and delivering excellent customer service. In this role, you will be the face of our brand in customers' homes. Success requires equal comfort in building rapport with people as it does in performing precise technical installations. A core part of your responsibility involves installing new meters and demonstrating how they function. You will guide customers to use their in-home display devices, showing them how these tools provide insights into energy usage. About the Role
You will be responsible for coordinating the safe installation of smart meters in residential properties. This involves explaining the benefits of green energy options directly to householders in your designated area. Your role requires a calm and clear approach to guide customers through the features of their new devices. You will provide practical demonstrations, ensuring they understand how to use their in-home energy display. Collaboration with central support teams is essential to uphold our brand standards and maintain a consistent customer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Designing and implementing correct meter wiring configurations to ensure accurate energy readings.
- Guiding householders through the features of their new devices, focusing on live usage data displays.
- Conducting thorough safety checks and meticulously documenting each step to meet all regulatory compliance standards.
- Coordinating appointments by integrating with scheduling systems to find suitable times for local residents.
- Translating complex renewable energy principles into simple analogies tailored to the customer's level of understanding.
- Maintaining a tidy and safe work area, ensuring all surfaces are restored to their original condition after installation.
- Updating digital job records immediately after completing each task, including photos and detailed notes.
- Sharing efficient routing strategies with colleagues to minimize travel time across different districts.
Requirements
- Holding a relevant industry certification that validates your competence in electrical safety practices.
- Bringing three years of field experience specifically with energy meters or similar measurement hardware.
- Possessing a full driving license and demonstrating safe driving practices in urban environments.
- Communicating effectively with a diverse range of customers and adapting your language style as needed.
- Solving installation challenges using available tools while strictly adhering to operational procedures.
Additional Desirable Experience
Previous experience with in-home energy displays is highly valued. This experience helps you to clearly show customers their consumption patterns and reinforces the benefits of energy monitoring.
