Software Engineer (Backend, Python)
Job description
About the role
The role focuses on helping the team build and refine critical paths that enhance the key flows sustaining a system of hundreds of thousands of OCPI charging sessions, locations, and receipts to ensure smooth operational continuity. You will influence the evolution of highly complex Tariffs & Pricing logic, improving discounts and price offerings for customers while maintaining accuracy and performance across the platform. The position requires enabling the team to build quickly but robustly by applying best practices in observability, data analysis, and defensive programming to safely scale CPO integrations globally. You will work with cross-functional stakeholders to break down complex problems, understand feasibility, and propose creative technical solutions that deliver a market-leading product. The role emphasizes a passion for creating something impactful in the climate space alongside a mindset geared toward learning and growing within a rapidly scaling business. Success in this position depends on taking ownership of backend challenges that directly support the reliability and scalability of the energy charging ecosystem.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Analyze existing backend flows to identify bottlenecks and enhance the key paths that keep the system of hundreds of thousands of OCPI charging sessions, locations, and receipts running smoothly.
- Design and evolve highly complex Tariffs & Pricing logic to improve discount structures and price offerings while ensuring correctness and consistency across all customer profiles.
- Implement solutions that enable the team to build quickly but robustly, leveraging best practices in observability, data analysis, and defensive programming to safely scale CPO integrations globally.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to break down complex problems, clarify feasibility, and propose creative technical solutions aligned with delivering a market-leading product.
- Maintain and extend the Python backend to support new requirements, ensuring that code remains secure, fault-tolerant, and performant under production loads.
- Partner with data and product teams to translate business needs into technical specifications that guide the evolution of pricing and configuration systems.
- Write comprehensive tests and documentation to support long-term maintainability and to facilitate knowledge sharing across the engineering organization.
- Monitor production systems to detect anomalies, investigate incidents, and apply fixes that improve system reliability and customer experience.
- Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and libraries that can enhance the team's ability to deliver scalable backend services using Python and related technologies.
- Contribute to architectural decisions that impact scalability, security, and the overall reliability of critical billing and charging workflows.
