Project Manager, Software Operations
Job description
About the role
You own the end to end quality of our autonomy software through rigorous process improvement and execution. You will act as the primary problem solver for QC, tool testing, and bug reproduction workflows. This role requires you to deeply understand our labeling workflows and turn messy realities into reliable procedures. You will partner closely with the offshore QC vendor to ensure standards are interpreted and applied consistently. Your work will directly influence the reliability and scalability of the Nuro Driver™ platform. You will have real access to leadership and the mandate to drive change across the Software Operations team. You will be the person who connects ambiguous problems with clear, durable solutions.
Key facts
What you'll do
Turn vague or inconsistent QC procedures into something anyone can execute confidently without ambiguity.
Close the gaps where rubrics meet reality and real-world cases do not fit neatly into the existing framework.
Keep every change traceable so the team always understands what improved and why it was necessary.
Audit the classification framework for defects, labeling outputs, and operational findings to surface systemic issues.
Resolve ambiguity and overlap in the taxonomy so it accurately reflects how the work actually happens on the ground.
Catch and correct drift in standards and execution before it quietly undermines consistency across teams.
Learn the workflow from the inside by using tools, observing handoffs, and documenting edge cases and friction.
Surface patterns only visible up close, such as skipped steps, inconsistent calls, and rubrics that do not quite fit.
Turn observations into a regular cadence of clear, actionable recommendations presented to leadership for review.
Keep our offshore QC vendor team calibrated to the same standards through alignment sessions and updated guidance.
Build strong relationships with vendor account managers so problems surface early, not late in the cycle.
Own documentation that is clear, current, and built to outlast any one person and support long term operations.
Roll out changes so they land consistently across every team that depends on quality processes and procedures.
Continuously look for process improvements that increase efficiency, reduce rework, and strengthen ownership of outcomes.
Requirements
4+ years in project management, operations, process design, or QA in a software or tech environment with exposure to complex workflows.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to turn messy problems into clear procedures and rationales.
Comfortable working directly with engineering, operations, and offshore teams across time zones and cultural contexts.
Detail oriented with the discipline to maintain traceability, versioning, and rationale for every procedural change.
A bias for action that combines thoughtful analysis with the ability to execute quickly on well defined priorities.
Experience collaborating with vendors and aligning distributed teams on standards, expectations, and outcomes.
High ownership of outcomes with the ability to drive follow through without direct supervision.
Nice to have
Experience in autonomous vehicle, robotics, or AI tooling workflows where quality and labeling are mission critical.
Background working with QC, testing, or labeling tools and understanding of how software testing practices apply to data pipelines.
Familiarity with taxonomies for defect classification, labeling outputs, and operational findings in data intensive environments.
Experience running calibration sessions or alignment workshops between internal teams and offshore vendors.
Practical notes
This is a full-time position based in Mountain View, California at our headquarters.
Employment is at will and consistent with local laws and regulations.
Travel is generally minimal but may be required occasionally for alignment with vendor teams or internal stakeholders.
