About the role

We are building the core automation and tooling layer of The New Relic One platform as a senior frontend engineer. You will own the development of developer-facing interfaces that streamline how teams instrument and observe their systems. This role involves crafting extensible frontend APIs that integrate seamlessly with our internal framework and complex architecture. You will design and implement robust UI components that deliver consistent and reliable experiences across diverse use cases. Collaboration with cross-functional partners will ensure your work directly supports platform scalability and product stability. You will leverage modern frameworks like ReactJS to solve intricate user interaction challenges. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency of both internal engineers and external customers using our products.

What you'll do

Identify and select the optimal frameworks and tools to accelerate delivery while preserving codebase integrity and product stability.

Architect and produce a high-performance, flexible CLI powered by modern Typescript and disciplined software development practices.

Automate repetitive development tasks to reduce manual effort and increase consistency for daily engineering workflows.

Perform in-depth analysis to uncover opportunities for automation and process improvement across the developer lifecycle.

Liaise closely with UI engineers across the organization to align on standards and share best practices effectively.

Investigate and implement improvements to your technical skillset to enhance team workflows and the quality of delivered tools.

Evaluate and integrate modern UI tools and testing strategies to ensure resilient and maintainable frontend layers.

Design solutions that interact efficiently with internal APIs and backend services supporting observability data.

Champion the adoption of CI pipelines to validate changes and streamline the release process for user-facing features.

Contribute to the evolution of the platform's extensible architecture to support future growth and new use cases.

Ensure all user interfaces are responsive, accessible, and provide a seamless experience for diverse end users.

Translate complex product requirements into intuitive frontend designs that balance functionality with performance.

Collaborate with product and design teams to refine interactions and optimize the overall user journey.

Requirements

Demonstrate solid experience working with modern JavaScript environments and runtime behaviors.

Show familiarity with contemporary development and build tools including eslint, docker, babel, and webpack.

Bring experience with front-end JS testing tools and a comprehensive understanding of modern UI development workflows.

Exhibit a clear understanding of CI pipelines and the ability to build and maintain them for frontend projects.

Possess strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with distributed teams.

Approach problem-solving with a methodical mindset and the ability to debug complex frontend issues.
