What you'll do
Lead a team of engineers through the full software development lifecycle from initial planning through final deployment.
Mentor junior and mid-level developers to help them grow their technical and professional skills over time.
Collaborate with product managers to define feature scope and delivery timelines for each development sprint.
Own the architectural decisions that shape the reliability and scalability of New Relic platforms and services.
Conduct thorough code reviews and enforce coding standards that promote consistency and long-term maintainability.
Drive continuous improvement by introducing new processes and tools that boost overall team productivity.
Represent the engineering team in cross-department meetings and stakeholder discussions on a regular basis.
Troubleshoot production issues and coordinate responses across on-call and development teams during incidents.
Define hiring needs and participate in recruiting, interviewing, and onboarding new team members effectively.
Foster a culture of accountability, transparency, and open communication within the engineering organization.
Set quarterly objectives and track progress against key performance indicators for the engineering group.
Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions and technical deep dives to strengthen the collective expertise of the team.
Evaluate team performance metrics and identify areas for professional development and growth.
Ensure documentation standards are maintained across all codebases and technical knowledge bases.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience managing software engineering teams in a professional and fast-paced technology environment.
Strong understanding of software design principles and modern development practices across the industry.
Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders with confidence.
Experience with agile or iterative development methodologies and familiarity with project planning tools.
Proven track record of delivering software products on schedule and within the agreed scope.
Familiarity with monitoring and observability practices for understanding behavior in distributed systems.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent practical experience.
Willingness to work on-site in Hyderabad, India for the full duration of the role.
Comfort with making difficult decisions and providing constructive feedback to direct reports.
Track record of building trust and rapport with team members across different experience levels.

Prior experience working with observability or monitoring platforms in a production environment.
Background in leading teams that operate across multiple time zones or geographic regions.
