About the role
Neuralink is building devices that create a bi-directional interface with the brain to restore movement to the paralyzed, restore sight to the blind, and revolutionize human interaction with the digital world. The internal apps team operates like an internal startup, rapidly prototyping and building software that solves problems for the company using any tech stack that fits the challenge. You will work closely with neuroscientists, physicists, chip designers, pathologists, and mechanical engineers to own projects that drive engineering and experimentation across Neuralink. This role provides high autonomy and high ownership with direct responsibility for building tools that have immediate, tangible impact on the mission. You are expected to communicate honestly and transparently, contribute to a fast-paced environment, and thrive under high expectations to help the team meet clinical demand and deployment timelines.

What you'll do
Own full-stack projects that make Neuralink 100x faster by architecting and implementing elegant software solutions.
Build and maintain data platforms that collect, organize, and visualize diverse data including neural signal recordings, brain histology images, device telemetries, and experimental data.
Develop and support lab systems software that serves as the digital collaboration hub for all teams within the company.
Create ERP software that orchestrates and tracks every aspect of designing brain-computer interfaces from research to deployment.
Improve developer productivity by building and maintaining DevOps and infrastructure tools used across the organization.
Collaborate directly with engineers and scientists to understand complex workflows and translate requirements into robust software tools.
Design and implement new features and services that enable rigorous experimentation and data analysis for neuroscientists and engineers.
Ensure software reliability, scalability, and performance in a high-throughput environment where data integrity is critical.
Work closely with cross-functional partners to iterate quickly and deliver minimum viable products that support clinical and operational needs.
Take ownership of the full product lifecycle, from initial discovery and design through implementation, testing, and continuous improvement.
Drive technical design discussions and propose creative approaches to challenging problems within the constraints of existing systems.
Contribute to code reviews, documentation, and best practices that help maintain high engineering standards across internal tools.
Support deployment pipelines and monitoring systems to ensure that new software releases meet strict operational requirements.
Identify opportunities for automation and optimization to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency for internal teams.
Act as a technical partner to non-engineering teams by explaining capabilities and limitations of software solutions in clear terms.
Contribute to a culture of innovation by exploring new technologies and techniques that can be applied to Neuralink's unique data and device challenges.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience shipping a product that has been actively used, regardless of tech stack or domain.
Full-stack engineering capabilities with proficiency in both frontend and backend technologies.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new technologies quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Experience working with large datasets and data visualization tools is highly relevant for this role.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex projects with minimal supervision.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Comfortable working in a high-trust, high-expectation environment where 60-hour weeks are not uncommon during critical periods.
Willingness to engage in rigorous and thoughtful inquiry to help assemble and improve high-performing teams.
Must be eligible to work in the United States for the location specified, with no restrictions that would impact the role.
Nice to have
Preferred experience with tools and languages commonly used in data platforms, web applications, and DevOps environments.
Background in biomedical, scientific, or healthcare-related domains is a plus given the mission of the company.
Experience contributing to open source projects or demonstrating technical initiative outside of formal education.
