Neptune North seeks a Data Engineer who owns the end-to-end design, construction, and operation of data pipelines that feed critical investment workflows. You will architect robust ingestion frameworks pulling from external vendors and sell-side partners, transforming raw feeds into trusted, analysis-ready datasets. In this position, you own the reliability, performance, and integrity of the firm's central data platform, directly enabling investment decisions. You will partner daily with analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into durable data products. What you'll do
- Design and develop sophisticated data pipelines that reliably ingest structured and unstructured data from external vendors, sell-side partners, and third-party providers.
- Implement secure, scalable, and maintainable ingestion and transformation logic using SQL, Python, and associated cloud services to meet evolving business requirements.
- Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the firm's central data platform, ensuring components remain performant, observable, and aligned with investment team needs.
- Write comprehensive tests and validation checks to confirm data correctness, platform stability, and to prevent regressions in production environments.
- Troubleshoot production incidents, diagnose root causes, and execute remediation steps to restore data flow and maintain continuity for critical processes.
- Establish and maintain strong collaboration with business users, analysts, and technologists to clarify requirements, validate outcomes, and prioritise improvements.
- Champion continuous improvement by evaluating new data management tools, frameworks, and methodologies, and driving adoption where they deliver clear value.
- Ensure data quality, integrity, and lineage are consistently upheld across pipelines, providing confidence to stakeholders making time-sensitive decisions.
- Act as an operational owner for the data platform, monitoring performance, cost, and security, and proactively proposing optimizations.
- Support knowledge transfer and documentation so that solutions are understandable, maintainable, and extensible by other members of the data team.
- Represent Neptune North in cross-functional forums, sharing insights gained from delivery work and influencing technical strategy.
- Leverage version control, CI/CD practices, and infrastructure as code to deliver changes frequently, safely, and with traceability.
Requirements
